Email notifications for the participants were sent out a few hours ago. I managed to get into the beta. I'm curious if anyone else from GOG got in.. if you did, post here! :)
Here's the email participants get, if anyone's curious:
"Congratulations!
You have been selected to receive one of the initial 300 prototype Steam Machines and Steam Controllers built by Valve! You were randomly chosen out of the over 400,000 users who completed the Eligibility Quest, so you beat some pretty incredible odds. We suggest that you also buy a lottery ticket this week, because you’re clearly a lucky person.
To help you test everything out, we will be adding some games to your Steam account, including all the Valve titles, plus:
Metro Last Light
Bastion
FTL
Arma Tactics
Serious Sam
Hotline Miami
Beatbuddy
Strike Suit Zero
Don’t Starve
Painkiller: Hell and Damnation
We have also added a special badge to your Steam community profile which indicates that you are an official Steam Universe beta participant. It’s called Steam Hardware Beta Participant, and you can see it on your Steam community profile page. (So can everyone else!)
We will ship the Steam Machine and Steam Controller to the address you provided when you signed up for beta participation. The devices are scheduled to ship on December 13th via FedEx. You’ll receive tracking info from FedEx as soon as the shipment leaves the factory. Note that a signature will be required upon delivery, so please use the tracking info you receive to plan a time when someone can be home to receive the box and sign for it when it arrives.
We ask only one thing of you during of the SteamOS / Steam Machine / Steam Controller beta: use these devices and have fun with them. The purpose of the beta is to include you in the Steam team’s design process, because your participation will help us build better hardware and help make SteamOS as good as it can be. In addition to the feedback you contribute via the Steam Universe community group, the way you use your Steam hardware will help teach us what’s working and which areas need improvement.
Remember, the beta hardware is meant for your use. The beta agreement specified that it cannot be transferred to other Steam users. So please do not try to sell your hardware to anyone else.
For questions, discussions, support, bragging rights, fan art, and everything else, you can visit the official beta URL:
http://steampowered.com/steamosbeta/
(That web site is not live yet, but will be by the time you receive your Steam Machine.)
We look forward to working with you over the next few months.
Signed,
The Steam team"
