Take with an arbitrary amount of salt.
I'll believe it when I see it
Jesus, one forgets there was a time when computer games were 80 fucking dollars.

Oh yeah, lol. I remember I used to get my PC games from Circuit City and CompUSA for $30 or less, but this was the late '90s. I remember the day I got Beast Wars: Transformers and played the hell out of the online mode through the MSN Gaming Network. Good times.
I don't know if SS1 will have a big market. There is System Shock Portable and although I'm not sure about the legal issues, it's been out in the open for years and it seems no rights holder (EA?) has stopped it. I think most people consider it freeware due to this.

Depends how the SS Portable guys react to the game becoming digitally available for purchase. They could go turn SS Portable into a patch which requires ownership of the GOG version of the game to install.

Ah yes, those were the days :P
And some games could be even more expensive than that. I recently looked through an old PC magazine from 1994, and those multi-disc FMV games were incredibly expensive. Under a Killing Moon for an example were like 100sek (today, that's roughly 10-15€) more expensive than single disc games. Heck, Under a Killing Moon was almost as expensive as a brand new SNES game.

You can imagine how the plebs would react to that.

"GOG.com is selling abandonware! The System Shock Portable guys sold out! It's a conspiracy!"

Could be, but I guess all the people interested in this game already have the "pre-GOG" version.
I'm certainly still hoping to be able to play SS1 I mean I could just go find a copy but I'm happy to wait patiently in this instance.

Heh maybe it just sucks to be Australian but all I have to do is go to steam and look up the new Wolfenstein and find it for 79.95
I'll keep my fingers crossed. I just hope they don't get deformed...

Oh, you mean like how people react now? :D
I never played the first System Shock but I won't bother getting hyped until this hypothetical addition is actually confirmed on GOG as an impending release.

That's not even the worst example; Call of Duty: Ghosts is $89.99 USD.

I have no idea why that should cost so much, I think retail games are because of the importing but digital shouldn't.
