But I spent all that effort with Open Office dbase!
Their registration is still closed anyway.

What's the benefit of a tool like this? It seems superfluous to me, not to mention a hassle to keep up to date.

It's all about the E-peen and how much bigger it makes yours to have a shit ton of unfinished games.

Speaking from experience, having an extensive backlog of games can be intimidating when trying to decide what to play. Backloggery helps recommend the better ones you've skipped over so that you give them a second look.

I concur, and I still enjoy the reaction 'of what the fuck is this shit?' when clicking the fortune cookie. and getting thrown up an old GBC game I could never bother to play.

I have a backlog, too. I just don't see why I would want to spend five hours typing it into a spreadsheet.

Is it just me, or is the site painfully slow now after the remake?

I don't have an account on backloggery, but I *do* waste my time entering all my games into a spreadsheet, so I'll respond.
It's satisfying, at least for me, to put a little X next to a game's name to mark its completion. It's also a good way to compile a list of the games that I haven't beaten and should consider playing, as well as a way to ensure that the games that I have from more niche DD services don't disappear into the void.
Entering games doesn't actually take that much time anyway, and can be done while listening to music or watching TV.

I don't use it to catalog my games, that would be crazy and I'd never finish.
I use it to write down the games I've actually completed. Which is nice. I also add the date I beat the game in, just for the hell of it.
And then there's people like this guy who has 1104 PC games... that came from a shareware game disc. Now that's one way to pad out your stats.
