Sage103082: Thank you. I understand a bit better now. I still think I lack seeing the point. Is this just in hopes of being on the winning team and getting 3 games by some rare chance in hell. To me it seems like a lot of BS and money spending on nothing for .. nothing.
Yep, that's pretty much it. ;)

Steam's entire trading card system is more or less a tool for Steam to create money out of almost nothing, and the team competition during this Summer Sale is meant as an encouragement to spend even more money.

If you have some trading cards, you can benefit from the madness by selling them now, while the card prices are going up (or by crafting a badge and selling the bonus card, but the time where that was profitable is probably over already). I was lucky to have a lot of cards on my account, and made about 60€ during the past few weeks just from selling cards. I kind of wonder why people are paying me money for something so useless, but I won't complain.

Red team standing by!
Right now, Red Team and Purple Team are neck to neck.

Green Team is pretty much dead right now.

That's pretty awesome, but I find it ridiculous that people are actually willing to pay for stuff like that.
Hey, this is not about me at all!

/Too cool to be in a team.
Does someone actually want to explain this team thing... :/

Roman5: seriously, what the blueberry muffinfuck is this shit?

-$560 dollars for lv200
-already has 300 more cards in his inventory which adds up to to about 90 dollars
-has spent over $650 on a useless badge

how the fuck is that even possible for him to have a Level 200 Badge?
IT'S BEEN ONE GOD DAMN DAY.
BTW love blueberry muffinfuck !

Is there a way this person has 2 account and sold himself the card / badge whatever it is, for so much money because he would not lose anything selling it to himself. (I have no idea if the money sits in steam or goes to paypal - to even know if this is possible.)
Hey, remember when being a gamer meant playing games? :-)
LOL! I don't even understand what are the "teams" for... (:P)

He might have one or more additional accounts since that makes it easier to farm cards, but either way he has spent a lot of money. Either on cards directly, or on games that got him those cards.

Each game only drops a limited amount of cards, so you have to keep buying games if you want to keep getting more cards, or you can buy cards directly on the Steam market.

Yeah, whenever I decide to read up on one of these meta games, I immediately get bewildered and let it be.

I did however once sell all of my Steam trading cards that I had aquired by god knows what means, which netted me a cool 50 or so Cent. So there's that.

Unfortunately on the Green Machine, dead last. But the one thing I do like about this Summer Steam Contest Competition is how much the Summer cards sell for. You can really turn a profit on them, even fi you go for one of the (cheap) badges.
