This photo is a favorite of mine. A picture of European Southern Observatory buildings in Chile. A very rare photo - not only is there snow in the Atacama desert (the driest non-polar location in the world), but you can also see a meteor and the International Space Station.

The whole theory behind the black holes is mindblowing. An object which gravity pulls so much that even light can not get out - that's just amazing and terryfying at the same time.
