I bought a sold out version of thief 2 a while ago and couldnt get it to work on vista because it kept crashing. Does the GOG version work on vista because I have heard of loads of exeptions to the "garenteed to work on modern pc`s".

The game page suggests that it's compatible with Vista. Chances are you'll be okay, but of course you might run into problems regardless. That's just a fact of PC gaming that you have to live with.

Also, you could check out the game-specific forums when in doubt. If a game has well-known compatibility issues, bugs or some such, they are usually paid great attention.

Get Tafferpatcher, it'll sort you out.

Works fine out of the box on Win7, so I assume it does on Vista. By out of the box I mean GOG box, lol.

With the ddfix it's even better of course.

If you go through the game list, almost every single game is supported on Windows XP and Vista, with support being added for computers using Windows 7. Thief 2 should work on Vista, so that should let you play about every game that GOG adds if you're using it, since I don't know that something like Witcher 2 would run on XP
