Do you think maybe Galaxy/cross-play could appeal enough to Gearbox to bring the Homeworld games when they re-release them? I understand if you don't want to presume, though; I just like considering what games (high up on the wishlist) are significantly more likely to appear with the use of an optional client.

I'm not familiar with how DRM-free friendly Gearbox is so that's a hard call. It would be totally awesome if they were to do so though and while I've got boxed copies of all the original Homeworld games and expansions, I'd totally buy them all again to have DRM-free easy-button versions of them. GOG Galaxy once available can only really have one of 3effects on a given developer I believe: 1) They are interested in such a platform technology and it draws them to the GOG platform, or they're already here and they're interested in adding support to their games here.
2) They may or may not be interested in using it in something they have out at the moment (due to perhaps not wanting to spend engineering resources on existing products without seeing a sure-win ROI from it), but probably would be interested in using it in future products they might want to sell on GOG.
3) They have no interest in GOG at all and so Galaxy doesn't matter either way.
For #3 though, should they gain interest in the future, then #1 is likely. I really hope Gearbox fits in with #1. :)

Headcrab legalities and gog galaxy potentialities aside, should I get this game on steam?
It has been stated it won't be coming to gog.
Interestingly, I hunted for it in the humble store as well as the humble widgets, but it seems that Torchlight (the first one) has been removed from there as well as them not having Torchlight II. Weird, since gog still has the original Torchlight.
Do you think it'll show up on the Humble Store, or as part of a bundle, even if it is just as a steam key? What is Runic's issue with Humble Bundle?
I played the original Torchlight, and enjoyed it, but I admit it was getting to be SOMETHING of a slog near the end. And when the final boss came about, I attacked it 20 different ways for 2 weeks and was still not able to beat it, and have not as yet beaten the game because of that. I heard later that Torchlight had some balance issues that if you didn't build up in a specific way, the final boss would be really hard.
Is Torchlight II better? Is it worth getting (with regards to the quality of the game) despite all these DRM issues? I have absolutely no intention of playing multiplayer, so that doesn't come into it.
It is no longer a flash/daily deal on steam, but it'll probably get there again on the final day. so I figured I should ask. If it is not going to come to gog, and is not going to feature on Humble Bundle, and it is good, I'd get it on steam.

It's hack n slash all game and it's quite easy. Its advantages are the mods and the various builds. I have 150+ hours in this game.

I would suggest getting the Runic version over the Steam one. It only requires a one time "phone home" hassle free activation before the first launch and acts like a DRM Free game from there onwards.
Much simpler than Steam and less restrictive.
