I bought and playing WC4 or wing commander 4 and decided to use m 360 controller. now this game was made in 95 so there was no way to map buttons to the controller so I downloaded and used joytokey. for the most part everything works 90 percent smooth the only problems im having is with the joystick on the controller even when I let go the ship is still moving. especially when you push it to the right. this a dog fighting game so I need better control, especially when using the laser guns on the ship. any suggestions fyi I already calibrated the control and even tried to reset it to default it still happens. any help would be appreciated.
How did the refund go?
they never got back to me, I redownloaded each part again and it worked that time. the only thing that was off was the sound . had to get something called the AC3 filter to fix it.

im glad the game works, but its worrisome that gog still has not responded to my message and it was 3 days ago. what if the game didnt work. would I just be out my money. I like the people on the forums, but dont know if I will continue buying games on here bc of customer service.

support is quite fast here usually. unless its vacation/weekend etc.

You might want to post to the games own sub-forum if you have not already. you never know if someone has written about it there.

i mean about solution to problem. not refund.

thanks I did check out the games sub forum thats how I found about the AC3 filter to fix the sound. yall on the forums have been great. so I appreciate all the help. I have been out of pc gaming for a long time. so Im just now getting back into it. the last pc game I bought before this was monkey island 3 lol.
Maybe Im missing something but, the game was made in 95, and you want a refund cos a 2005 controller doesn't work with it?

I don't know the game but is it "controller enabled"?

I don't get why you say the game is working but you want a refund.

Sorry, not trying to be flippant, but I doubt you would get a refund if the game is actually working.

you are missing something I couldnt get the game downloaded the other day. I dont need a refund now. the reason I needed one b4 is bc the game would not download initially. I had to try and download it all again. 2nd time it worked but with no sound. so I had to download extra software to get it to work

if you go to the forums for the game a lot of folks are having problems. maybe gog should have tested a little better.

the controller works 90 percent of the way just the joysticks are a lil off all I really needed to know is there a way to make it more precise. I tried to calibrate the controller but it didnt fix the problem

by the way im not trashing this site. I love the interface and the community has been great, the only thing that irked me is its been three days with no response. even a message of we heard you would have sufficed

Ah, OK, I get it now, it wasn't clear in the OP. Have you tried xpadder? I seem to remember there is an issue with modern controllers and a "dead zone" pertaining to older games, dunno how to fix it though. Hope it works out for you in the end :)
thanks man no I used joytokey basically the same thing.

the controller is 90 percent there. I think its just bc of the age. although it maybe the controller. I know some gamers say they have better luck with knock off controllers like madkats when it comes to pc gaming.

The support here is actually one of the best in the industry (at least according to my experience). They usually reply within a day or even less and most of the time their reply really helps or at least can point you in the right direction to solve the problem.

Actually, when you write to support you instantly get an automated reply to confirm that your message has reached the support staff. This mail should also contain a ticket number. If you didn't receive such a mail you must have done something wrong. See 2).

However, there are two important things you need to keep in mind when contacting support:

1) While GOG does have fast and great support they do NOT have 24/7 support. In other words: Support only works on polish business hours and there is no support on weekends. So don't hold your breath waiting for a reply when everybody is sleeping in Poland (keep different timezones in mind!) and don't expect a reply before Monday when you write to them Friday night.

2) Contact support through the proper channels! Don't just write to support@gog.com and assume they will read it eventually. They won't because this address is a spam trap that nobody will ever read. The only correct way to contact support is to go through the web form at http://www.gog.com/support/contact.

If you keep these two things in mind I'm sure your opinion of the GOG support staff will greatly improve.
Guah, one of these days I need to configure WC3 to run smoothly. For the life of me I couldn't get the 360 controller to work like it did in WC1-2, and it also was kind of sluggish. I just never really had the time to troubleshoot.

its the same with WC4 I was able to map the most important functions to the buttons like the afterburners and dropping decoys but the left joystick is slugglish but the right joystick is fine however
