Some persistant fans uploaded their mod with ugly models and now how can I get the real vanilla version on GOG?

Gog has released a new version of this game (1.0351) which no longer works on Windows 7.
The original version (1.0324) worked fine.
When I reinstalled the game, it crashed multiple times---so, uninstalled, re-downloaded, reinstalled and same problem....
More over, the MOD has a lot of homemade, poor graphics.
GOG beat me out of my money....
DO NOT BUY---this is NOT the same game...it is mod .

The actual game deserves 5 stars. It is wonderful.

The current version on GOG is unplayable due to crashing to desktop several minutes into any mission.
Why? I went back and found the original CD version, patched it to 1.03 and ran it is XP compatability mode and it runs perfect, no flaws, no problems. Except the whole need the stupid CD thing. Of course the fix of not using the GOG version doesn't help other players much.

Why is GOG using a patched version that isn't working at all and contains mods that there customers don't really want?..................

I recomended this game and one friend bought it yesterday . He started to talk about ugly looking Ogre race with models looking out of the game . I said -there is no ogre race in Warlords Battlecry 3 . Then I started see into the matter and found out that some lousy but persistant modder unloaded his mod to GOG

I know that mod from before and don't want it. I want to buy the real game

Maybe Petrells posting in another thread helps here. The game was badly broken and the hope the developers will maybe fix that was never fulfilled . That's why gog uses a fanpatch.

Edit: GOG should maybe add an information about the mod on the gamepage with some explanation why they use the mod and what in detail was changed. I never played WBC3 (though I own it), but the chances to the game sound very extensively to me.

1.03.24 was an unofficial patch and I played it for years .
The 1.35 is a mod in question .
I had original game twice and lastly it run perfect on Windows 7 before I had to move abroad with the new laptop
and now need to buy myself a digital version on GOG.

Keep in mind that gOg has the 30-day return policy. Work with them to see if they can get the game working for you.

For some reason GOG added mod which contains few additional races. Those races indeed have a lot of horrible models and I wouldn't recommend playing them. Luckily there is no reason at all to play them and you can stick to old races.

I don't know wahy it's there and I don't think it should but it doesn't make the game unplayable and you can ignore it if you desire so.

When I bought this game. I got v1.0235. It was basically vanilla, but with some unkind words on losing your bases. I think I still have it, I have an old installer, but then so does tpb. However GOG do have it as well, so I assume they don't want you to have this version.
