I think that it is fine, and actually nice that there is non-gaming relevant discussions, and the header tends to give a fair warning, as such.

As to OP, I would agree that the result is not highly appealing, and Duchess of Alba is fortunate to be rich and well born, lest she be ridiculed.

However, let it be added that there are also certainly a number of men in entertainement industry who have not done themselves any favors with the scalpel.

One might debate in the context the larger issue of society putting unduly high value on beauty, compared with for example compassion, competence, hard work etc. After all, studies have shown that beautiful persons get on average paid more than their plainer colleagues.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. To me that was the only interesting subject matter in the list. It posed a surprisingly good question when you actually think about it.

Fenixp: Yeah, that's 7 topics stretched within total number of 600 other topics. They make up 1.1% of all those. Hardly spamming, don't you think? Besides, I don't see anything completely pointless besides murdering humanity in that list of yours :D
I didn't say that he was spamming. I just think his threads are really stupid and out of place on this forum. I also don't think that a thread on the physical appearance of the Duchess of Alba deserves a serious response. If that makes me arrogant and an idiot then so be it.

Heh, no, that makes you a person with an opinion. That's good. Using Joe's GOG.com makes you arrogant, which makes you an idiot in my eyes. But don't worry, that's not personal, it applies to Joe and his one word responses just as well :D

You know, what I really love about our society is how everyone claims "Beauty is not important," and then the very same person marries a stupid, yet pretty woman. Just look at damn fairy tales, the beautiful people are always the good guys, and ugly people are bad - even thou it's usually exactly the other way around, ugly people tend to have more compassion because they've had to suffer a lot of ridicule.

spindown: GOG.com
I always thought this was in some way a clever ruse to trick Google into connecting the search query for anything from beauty operations and acoustics to "GOG.com".

Sometimes I wish more people (and myself) would just call out others on their bullshit more directly. It's one thing to have to listen to it, but when you see interviews on tv and such where this happens the journalist generally just nods and moves on.

Yes, because obviously, ugly person cannot be intelligent, kind and nice. That's just not possible.

Wait a minute, guys? Is he just trolling me?
Protip: Noone looks good past 70 anyway. The best you can even hope for is "good for 70," which still isn't that good.

XmXFLUXmX: Ugly people tend to have mental problems, and the whole cliche of the weird, ugly kid, really being a rocket scientist is just pure, Hollywood fantasy.
Ummm... Yes, obviously, when we're talking about that kind of ugly, it usually means minor or major physical deformations, which doesn't really point to healthy and good genes.

However, in modern society, anything that's not 'norm' automatically makes you ugly. For women it's having a tummy (some people consider this fat, and therefore, ugly. What the hell?), which in turn leads to right away unhealthy obsession with commercial beauty, which is a bad, bad thing. See that picture? That woman would be perfectly healthy even if she gained a few more kilos, and there would be nothing bad about it. Hoewever, if she lost 10 kilos to get into the area of today's "sexy," she might run into serious health issues later on.

But, today's society doesn't accept that it's variability that keeps human kind going, and most people are looking for one, perfet 'model' of human. And, of course, people are trying to adjust to that, even if it means going against nature, and therefore, genes they'll pass along to next generation (which will obviously remain the same.) So, you think that's ok, eh?
