P1na: I read astro city recently. It was great.
THe most recent one I read was code monkey save world.
Mostly manga the last few years.
I've been reading 2000AD comics for quite a few years now. That said, I really despise Japanese comics, and western super hero books. Really love the medium, but the choice of content most companies choose seems really lacking.
As kid i used to read Judge Dredd and whatever western comics i could get my hands on at the library - these days mostly manga/manhwa when i happen to have time. Suppose i got overdose of the western super heroes.

Oh, if i was millionaire, id definitely make computer game out of "Kuninkaan lapset" (Kings children), finnish comic book by Petri Hiltunen. Ive read plenty fantasy and thats the best traditional D&D / Warhammer style adventure comic ever.

There is actually PnP rpg of it - Praedor, but i suppose you need to learn finnish ;)

"japanese comics" is rather wide concept you know? I mean it goes from the most cutsy-cute kids stuff all the way to the nightmarish tentacle things and so...

I must say i havent been into superhero comics for long time, but "Onepunch-Man" is just brilliant.

I'm reading manga. Sort of. I'm also planning on buying PDF version of Judge Dredd.
In another life. In this life I'm short on cash and buy games instead of comic books. If I had a lot more money though. . .
I really like to read manga and manwhua.
My father prefers the american 'superhero' comics like X-men and Spiderman though and has quite a large collection.
Well if that means comics in general, I loved to read the Silent Hill comics and everything around
Tales from the Crypt -like horror comics conveying a message/moral and having an eerie magical atmosphere.
I really don't like mangas, though. Once got some from a friend of mine and knew that I would never ever read one again. Just don't like the look and the prevalent topics.
which I think is unnerving about comics is the money you have to spend in order to collect the (often) large number of comics which somehow belong in your collection .
it's the same with buying series you would like to watch on dvd.

Also read Astro City; it's cool how in some stories it shows normal people's perspectives on the whole "superheroes punching things" situation that happens daily in the city.

I'm not a comic book fan but why is this thread low rated?

It's not a bad thread; comic books have inspired the creation of certain games (Arkham franchise, eg.), so this really should be uprepped.

SSolomon: and western super hero books.
I'd suggest giving "The Boys" and/or "Authority" a read. Not your usual western super hero books.
