So which one should I vote for? http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games#search=cyberstorm

Off topic rant: Honestly, do people not search before making a new request? I am certainly not going to report more duplicates. The ones I've done in the past have been ignored.

Wow, I didn't know there were so many duplicates. But this one should be the real MissionForce: CyberStorm Wishlist.

All of them?

Already reported these duplicates some time ago.

I have a hard copy of this game floating around. First played it in middle school back in '98. I remember having a young science teacher who was mad about it and he recommended it to me. I never really made much progress in it though :(...if it came here, I'd be oh so happy and I'd make sure to make progress!

One of these days I may be investing in a refurbished old computer...or a few, for that matter.

While I've junked a lot of my old computers, I do keep around a decent Win XP box just for cases where I have a hankering to pull an old set of discs or CDs out and give them a try. Between DosBOX and native XP, hasn't given me any issues yet!

If I wanted to own a computer (or multiple machines) that could run any game from the late 80's to the early 2000's, what operating systems should I aim for? Would a DOS machine and an XP be ok, or would having a windows '95 or '98 machine be worth it? Also, I've never seen in person, played with, or known anyone with an Amiga...that would be a new experience, and something seperate from Dosbox and Windows.

Namely, I want a machine that could play strategy games, adventure's, and RPG's from yesteryear, with some Doom, Quake, Earthsiege and Mechwarrior thrown in for good variety ;)

EDIT: I'd be fine starting with this:

I'm excited just thinking about it :D

My 98 SE Compaq Presario went up in smoke in a house fire last year ;(...replacement parts needed!

I'm no expert in this area... but the machine I have for old stuff is a Win XP Celeron or P2 (clocked at about a gig or so?), running either onboard graphics card or maybe something in the TNT 2 arena? Circa '98 - '00. Ram... I have no clue, though I could check if you were interested. I don't know about Amiga emulation, but this thing has had no problem running anything in DOSbox or from early Windows. I've tossed X-COM 3.5 discs at it, X Wing Alliance, Privateer, the classic iso-CRPGS (Baldur's Gate, Torment) and I really haven't had to do anything to get things running. The most difficult thing I've had to do is mount the drive in DOSbox. No messing with CPU cycles because the game ran at 1,000 MPH, no registry hacks, nothing. Obviously your mileage may vary but mine has done well as a "legacy" computer. 'Course, now that I'm on GoG it's been a bit easier to use my "real" PC, but this old dog has done me well for all the old discs I've pulled out of my basement.

The one exception... Vampire: TMR. After a patch or two I got it running but there's an early "level" that takes place in dark caves... for the life of me I couldn't get the game to adjust brightness in a way that made the game fun to play. Way too dark no matter what I did.

*and EDIT to add... Ah yes between my friends from long ago and I the Compaq Presario has many, many fond memories. I know it's probably committing some sin but this computer should rank up there with the 2e and a few others for "machines that should hold a special place in all gamers / computer nerds hearts" ;)

I still wonder if we could get a GOG dev in here to tell us if there's a possibility of GOG getting CyberStorm.

They'd probably say it has something to do with the publisher/rights holder's side, or that they simply haven't gotten around to it yet and they can't give a definitive answer. But I personally wouldn't say it's impossible, or improbable. It's all about patience and getting everything worked out, getting a deal made, and getting it working on modern systems.

I wonder how many games are sitting at GOG, waiting to be released, but with no green-light due to computability issues with modern PC's or Mac's :(

Yeah, I wonder how many games are in limbo too.

Hell is gonna freeze before a game doesn't get released on GOG (at all) because it doesn't work on Mac. :P

Haha!

That's true, but most older games are for PC anyways!
