It's unlikely that we'll here anything specific from GOG about this though. Any official statements could make them look bad from the perspective of the publishers that they want to make happy. They could also put the focus on details that the publishers currently may not be aware of (or care about).
Personally, I expect that no draconian measures (like regionalized codes) will be put in place unless there's either massive exploitation of the then-existing system, or if the publishers suddenly pay enough attention to these particular details that they demand stricter separation of regions from GOG.
Just speculating though, of course.

A part of me suspects that GOG may wind up enacting this sort of thing just to stir the pot a bit more than they already have. It's a long shot, but it's a more plausible explanation for the thoroughly incompetent response to the rebellion than they were trying to stop the revolt.
