That's probably less of a big deal now than it was before Apple moved over to the Intel architecture, but I do wonder how many people actually use Apple servers as servers now that I think about it. Seems like they would be quite good for other tasks.

And no, Windows 8 is a $333 operating system that will only run on ARM tablets. Microsoft released a press release, in which they mentioned that they are giving up with the support of the x86 architecture, desktop users, their business users, laptop users, and everybody else that doesn't use a tablet.

From my experience (I do have a Mac Mini G4 running Leopard [10.5] Server, mainly for web and mail), they're quite good for small workgroups, and - like all other Apple products - are excellent as long as you don't want to tread outside the paved path (where they fail horribly). The problem with most Apple products (including their server software) is that the paved path is quite narrow.
