Is there any difference between the ones offered on steam, and on gamersgate? Kinda given up waiting for GOG to get them (even though Microprose is here), and GG has a less obnoxious DRM compared to steam.

Crosmando: GG has a less obnoxious DRM compared to steam.
That differs per game I imagine, some GG games have far more obnoxious DRM on them than the Steam version :)

But yes, no Steam of course.

That said, for the X-com games they don't have DRM on Steam. They're Dosbox I think so you can zip them up or move them etc without any problems.

I'd imagine the GG versions to be similar.
I've heard there are a lot of problems with both versions. Buy and pray I'd say.
Oh right, so just your generic DOSBox auto-run type deal, like GOG does?

Somewhat I guess. I imagine the GOG games generally are better configured.

I played through X-com: UFO defense with no problems whatsoever.

X-Com: Terror from the Deep is getting a lot of slowdown on the ship missions though. (like they weren't horrible enough >.<)

i bought the Complete Pack on GamersGate. the older games run in DOSBOX. the whole package, while complete, lacks GOG's attention to detail. you get no extras and not even custom desktop icons for the DOS games.

apart from that, they work fine. i don't think it makes much of a difference where you buy them, Steam or GamersGate.
I have the Xcom pack on steam and so far didn't encounter any problems.
Although, I had to fiddle around in the configuration of DOSbox to make ufo defense and terror from the deep run smoothly.

Any chance you could give me some tips? UFO defense worked fine for me but TFTD really slows down in the large missions and it's really not my computer xD

A link would also be fine :)

The forum at Vogons is an excellent resource for getting misbehaving DOSBox apps to run. Might this help? http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=26699&highlight=xcom

Edit: I got the X-COM bundle on GG and it seems to work fine, as far as I know, but then again I haven't had the time to play TFTD or UFO Defence for a long period of time.

For me, setting emulation cycles to "auto limit 25000" did the trick. No link, cause it was more of trial and error until I got it right.

Thanks, I'll try it out ^^
