Those moments where, you are either in a very tough situation or in the final boss of a game. Where you don't even sleep until finally, after many hours, losses and frustration; you achieve victory and you proceed to dance into the streets.

One of mine would be in Final Fantasy 1 & 2 Dawn of Souls for the GBA, specifically FF1. I'm at the final boss and this guy is just wrecking me. I fought this guy all into the late hours. After a long game of buffing, healing, buffing again and attacking...I finally killed the s.o.b. I would've screamed for joy, but it was like 3:00 in the morning. If anyone is curious, my team was 2 fighters, a black mage and a white mage.

The Touhou series also tend to do these moments for me.

So fellow GoGers, what are your victory moments?

I just had one of those moments with Kanji's Shadow in Persona 4 Golden. The main character was the only one left standing, I had very little SP (Soul Points = mana in Persona), I was running out of healing items, and I was resorting to hitting the boss with my sword. On top of all THAT, it was the last day that I could rescue this guy because if you don't rescue a victim in tim in Persona 4 Golden, the game ends and then you can either go back about a week or reload a save.

I managed to beat him down just using my character's melee attacks. It was a long, dragged out fight but I damn well did it :D
Nice topic.

There should have been many of such moments in my video game experience since 80's; however I don't remember much. I wish I had a journal for my gaming. In fact this is a good idea. Maybe I can keep one from now on.

There was a boss in Dragon Age Origins. A huge beast in the deeps of a cave... Broodmother was its name. It was like an ugly octopus. It was really hard to beat him. When I finally managed to do so with some luck and a lot of dedication I was really happy and proud. It was not more than 3 years ago, thus I can remember. It was the best game I played in recent years.

If a game can record a few such moments to your memory than you can conclude that it is a good game. This thread may lead us to some overlooked gems.

Most recent one I can think of was in Magic 2014- I was going against this enemy which would win the game if it had 4 or more of a certain card. This one, actually,

He would also use bitchy cards like this

and this one

So basically, he had lots of life points to lose, but could win the game in 3-4 turns.

Guy had three biovisonaries on the field before my luck turned, and I was able to play this card (using the Dimir deck).

So then he had two on the field. And this turn I got enough blue mana to play this awesome dude,
http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Lord%20of%20the%20Unreal

And was able to deal some nice damage with my illusion monsters which were already in play.

Long story short, he kept trying to either bring in new guys or make copies of mine, but I used cards like this
http://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=235601

and this to keep him in check till the final blow.
http://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=265715

Took around 6-7 turns to win, iirc, which is pretty weak by MTG standards. I got lucky, but still after I won I was like, I am wizard, bitch.

edit: I think I am confusing this fight with another, but I remember using last gasp for sure, so I must have had the Dimir deck, but possibly not some of the other cards. I can't remember, and it's supposed to be my most recent memory too! I blame drugs.

edi2: cancel that, I was wrong about Dimir. Must have been the Jace one.

My first moment was beating "ALEX KIDD" on SEGA Master System - my very first Jump'n'Run and I was so bad at this back then... took me so many hours to finally beat that thing once. I was so happy!

Another big moment was beating "Lunar Eternal Blue" on SEGA CD. That story was so great and got me really hooked. And that final twist (jaw dropping) and the epilogue - just great!
Sim City 5, I got a server. *rimshot*
God of War: Chains of Olympus - Hades's Challenges.
That last challenge is the reason my first PSP broke. Last f*cking mob, a shitty harpie that takes 1 or 2 hits. After strategically planing every challenge, a 13 year old me finds himself at the last mob in the last challenge with just 1 millimeter of HP and the fucking thing just charges me with her attack and kills me. I raged so bad I broke the screen of my PSP. But, never mind that. I had a second, reserve PSP, so I inserted the memory card and game into that one and retried the challenge. In my anger I defeated all the sons o.b. without even trying. I beat the damn challenge. It was somewhat of a rewarding moment, but not for long as my PSP stayed broken for years until I got a cheap HDMI screen for it. Damn that sh*t annoyed me.

Yeah, I know. Not exactly what the thread is about, but it is something. Honestly, nothing extremely rewarding comes to mind right now, so I chose something from the opposite side of the spectrum.

Small thing: It felt rewarding when I killed Daud in Dishonored, but not because it was hard, LOL no, I Blinked and cut his throat in an execution, but because I simply dislike his character. His mentality is retarded. In any case, he's fun to play in the DLCs. He has really interesting abilities.

I have a couple that jump to mind. One was on a NWN server that I played with a buddy of mine. We were in an area where there was a crypt full of undead. Waded through he skellies, zombies and a few mummies. Then a crapton of vampires spawned. My buddy went down with four or five vampiers left and I was left holding the bag with no means of raising him. Resources (buff potions and healing) were gone and I was facing the last two vamps. Took out one and was down to 1 HP with no real hope of coming out alive. I was ready to see the respawn area, but managed to land 3 great hits in a row, taking him down. So there I was left standing with 1 HP, 1 dead pal, and nothing to heal us with. Wiped my sweaty brow, collected the loot, my buddy respawned, and on the way out... more skellies spawned and took me down. So I ended up respawning anyway. But damn, that was a fun dungeon encounter.

The other was in Alpha Protocol against Konstantin Brayko. I got waxed again and again because when I started the mission I didn't fill up on ammo and didn't find enough to keep me going to the end. But after I don't know how many attempts, I finally took that sucker out, Man, did that one feel good. When I first got there I thought the music was awesome. After I finally beat him, I couldn't stand it. LOL.
Hm. My most notable achievements I can think of are getting all the emblems in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, and finishing the extra stage in Imperishable Night.

Getting the D ending and platinum in Nier was a pretty zen moment. The feeling that you totally finished the game and never need to play it ever again because you grok it in its entirety.

even though I liked the game, the game balance was godawful particularly with bosses. You either shoot at them endlessly with each bullet doing about as much damage as it would if you just took each bullet out of the clip one at a time and threw each individually at them, or you kill them in literally one or two attacks. :(
A couple of the big ones come from WoW, when it was first released. The pinnacle of the game at the time was a raid called Molten Core, the final boss was named "Ragnaros" This raid took 40(!) people, and at the time our guild needed all forty to play at their peak, we had already tried a few times and spent WEEKS getting our Fire resist gear up.
We also had to farm our asses off to make some fire resist potions. This raid took HOURS to complete, (there's TONS of "trash" mobs and quite a few bosses you must play through) and finally we were all ready to "Give him Hell"
We started off almost perfectly, but as the long fight wore on we began losing people, then our Main Tank died, (usually this would be a raid wipe) and our Rogues (myself included) had aggro, everyone was popping Evade and our Raid leader (also a rogue) died, Then our off tank had him, he was at a sliver, but we were fading when he came up from the Lava the last time I can still hear our Raid leader on vent shouting "Burn him Down, Burn him Down" we threw everything at him, I was going full on frenzy throwing backstabs and nuking him with every cool down I had... Finally he dropped. Our vent was going crazy! We were a smaller "family" guild, but one of the first 5 or so guilds to drop Rags on our server.
I don't even remember what his loot was, it didn't matter, we had "arrived"

I'll never forget this battle, or seeing that giant warhammer sticking in the ground where Rags fell, it was awesome.
