Hello,

I am having a problem running this game on a more than capable computer (i7 5960x, 32GB RAM, SSD, GTX 980). It loads with no trouble using Windows XP SP2 compatibility, but when it does, it seems like my framerate is locked at 24. It does not change at all.

I've run this at the same settings on laptops in the past and never had an issue.

Any suggestions?

Shiny water is often a go-to. Try turning it off.

Besides that, I'm a bit confused too.

This might be an issue of your Nvidia drivers and OpenGL. NWN uses OpenGL for graphics handling and Nvidia drivers are infamous for messing with some older features of this standard. In NWN it's probably the transparency of robes, cloaks and ranged weapons models that causes the framerate drop. Try unequipping everything (maybe even save and reload afterwards) and check if it makes a difference. Would be good to have no NPC around wearing any of the mentioned equipment, too. If FPS raise, we know at least what to look for. (Much) older Nvidia drivers could be an option for proper OpenGL support or fumbling with NWN settings and models to get rid of visible cloaks and ranged weapons.

To get rid of cloaks, you can edit nwnplayer.ini.
Find: Visible Cloaks=1
Changing '1' to '0' stops cloaks from rendering

It is Full HD resolution problem, refresh rate is locked at 24hz. 1776x1000 is already runnig at 50hz. At lower resolutions there is no such problem at all. The only solution is window mode. Quite playable.

Thanks for the replies. I experimented with lower than full HD resolutions, and there was no change. I did inadvertently find a fix, I think.

After choosing the resolution(1280x720), and seeing the dreaded 24 FPS in FRAPS, I chose to change the advanced settings--my screen went black and the game came back up, but at a locked 60FPS.

I then changed the video setting back to 2560x1440 (24FPS again), clicked on advanced settings, and boom, 60fps.

This might work for others. I am now running at 2560x1440 60FPS with no issues.
