I still have my NWN2 discs, for the base game and expansions. They're getting ever more difficult to get running on modern machines. Does the GoG version run out of the box, and is it stable enough on modern windows/hardware that it'd be worth a buy if I already have discs?

In my opinion, yes. OTOH, do not expect GOG to have fixed all the bugs that are inherent in NWN2.

I finished the GOG version on a Win7 pc and it ran w/o any issues for me. This was a while back though, so no idea if the game had updates since then. It was a lot of fun for me, but I'm also not too hard to please when it comes to RPGs. :)
