NVM it appears the professionals think the CEP has no coding in it which can smooth the gameplay experience.

Forget this thread.

Before everybody clicks on this and gets too excited:

1. The CEP is not a bug-fix package. It is essentially a collection of six years worth of custom content that has been tweaked, tested, and made to work together. If you are not playing a module that requires CEP, or aren't planning to create your own modules, you don't need to download this.

2. This is important because it's a 786 MB download.

3. For module builders thinking that CEP content would be cool to put in their own modules, including CEP content is not as easily as you think as development and scripting is a little scattered at v 2.3. Also, again you're asking that anyone who plays your module download another 768 MB file.

Not to bash CEP because it is a pretty mighty piece of work, but it's basically only for hard-core NWN players and designers.
Right... I get what you're saying... but the whole reason I posted this is because I use it and have not experienced any issues.

So it is a "bug fix" of sorts.
"Bug fix" and "does not break game" are not the same thing. The CEP is cool and all, but it won't help anyone's problems.
Modified the original post and removed link. FWIW the CEP did fix my compatibility issues with Win 7, but these guys are pretty convinced it didn't.

Peace,

Did you really have any problems BEFORE installing the CEP? Or did you just install it and everything still works fine, but also would do so without it?
All I know is before I ran the CEP installer the game was flagged for compatibility issues. After I ran it the flag went away.

Your mileage may vary, and if the guys say it won't help, then chances are it won't. Don't take my experience as gospel, I generally have very few issues with games that many others seem to have.

Another Win7/Vista issue... movies only play if you use windowed mode. If you're full screen, you only see a black screen and hear the audio.

Not a Problem here, running Win7 Home Prem 64. All movies are working in Fullscreen

Huh. I never could get it to work so I just settled for playing windowed. And yeah, I checked the forums and tried their solutions. Maybe it's just my laptop being screwy.

I'm getting this problem too. How did you get it to play in windowed mode?
For those of you that are experiencing problems with the in games movies the following may help.

Edit nwn.ini located in your Neverwinter Nights installation folder.
Under [Display Options] change SafeMovie=0 to SafeMovie=1
