Soooo downloaded the new patch using the launcher, got the dpack01 issue but used the known fix (getting part01 and part02 from witcher site). Now I have a new issue, when trying to launch the game I'm getting the 142 error which is seemingly well known but all the fixes haven't worked for me. I've tried uninstalling then reinstalling .net 4.0, tried renaming the virtu dll file which causes issue, looked for any browser toolbars that may have snuck onto my system (have none) ... and that's all the fixes I can find.

Anyone have any other solutions? I've been waiting ages for the EE patch for my next playthrough but can't even start it.

Okay I fixed it by completely uninstalling Virtu, a little drastic but that thing never served me very well anyway.
