Who else would like Achievements on the GoG version of The Witcher 2? I know most people think Achievements are irrelevant and for the most part they are... but in a game like The Witcher 2 achievements would actually give me incentive to pick a different outcome... Twice I've played through the game now and twice I've had Lavalette throw down his sword rather than fight him... why, because I've had no real incentive to play the game different from how I normally would.

It's worse on the harder decisions as I play the game with how I would decide, not what I want to see to progress... One reason I hate playing decision based story RPG's.

If the different animated cutscene you're given and opportunity to meet Louisa La Valette are seriously not enough motivation to kill him, some stupid little popup that arbitrarily assigns worth to your actions will be equally meaningless.

There are also the two story branches in late Chapter 1 and mid-Chapter 3 that significantly alter the way events play out. If altered content, different cutscenes, and different abilities that you'll either obtain or miss out on (you won't get the "strong back" ability by killing Aryan, for example) aren't enough, then that's really a "you" problem rather than anything the game would be capable of addressing.

My bad, perhaps I forgot to point out the Achievements would be a good way of tracking all the possible branches the story could take... the only other thing I could do is keep a checklist of all the different branches I've taken.... in a game this large there's no way of knowing if I've seen all the possible paths.
I get your point, and I tend to agree with you, but Achievements tend to have a very 'social' connotation to them, and the Witcher 2 is not part of any kind of social network (unless you bought it on Steam, in which case it DOES have achievements). But all I can suggest for you is that you use the wiki and keep track of your progress, pencil and paper style. I love this game, and I've actually taken the time to map out the Chapter 2 blood curse puzzle on paper and figure out how everything correlates. I even made a stats sheet for Geralt so I could keep track of my allotted skill points. It might sound awfully nerdy (and indeed, it is) but this is the kind of game that provides satisfaction based on how much you invest into it. Take your time and really plot out your game - It's totally worth it.
