I just started playing the witcher 2 today and the graphics totally blow me away. I had it since launch to support them but waited till i had a pc that could run it properly.

I have both and played every pc game i could think of that should have amazing graphics because i wanted to test my new baby. I usually only care for gameplay but since i bought a new pc i thought lets see what it can do.

Nothing comes close to the witcher II in my opinion and every site or magazine or award show that doesn't nominate it, is completetly unbelievable in my eyes. Mind you, it doesn't have to win (graphics are a bit subjective) but it deserves to be nominated each and every time.

What did you guys think the first time you saw it? And do you feel another game has better graphics and why (i know artstyle is something different and there a probably games with a getter graphical design).
Yeah, the graphics in this game are just mind-blowing, especially when you have beefed up your rig to where you can run Ultra at full resolution (even without bloody Ubersampling).

I think Skyrim is its only competition in the art department, but TW2 wins on attention to details like the stitch-perfect right-down-to-the-skivvies authentic clothing.

I do like the visuals in Skyrim but they don't come near anything TW2 does. But Skyrim also has a lot of detail in it. I do realise the graphics aren't as crisp asTW2 because skyrim is open world but strictly lookiing at graphics TW2 blows skyrim away.
The visuals are great & I know the feeling, when you get a new graphics card you want to go on a magical mystery tour of graphics.
But actually what I like best about Witcher 2 is that instead of being long & grindy, it's short & dense, with many branches, so it's different when you play again.
Someone like me, who doesn't have loads of time to play, can have a great time, finish the game, have a lot of choices to their route.
If I really like it (I did), then I can play again, maybe 6 months later & have a substantially different adventure.
I know this route takes almost as much man-hours as building a longer game with less branches but I think its a more satisfying type of game for a a range of different players.
And it neatly sidesteps some of the compromises involved in trying to be accessable to less hardcore players, while still giving plenty for the harcore players to dig into.
Yeah I consider TW to be pinnacle of many aspects, graphics being one of them. It really blows everything away.
I hate that most game awards completely missed this game just because a game like Skyrim was newer.
