Howdy guys.
Picked this up today, as I enjoyed The Witcher and I had some spare money so it seemed like a good idea.
Been looking through various forums today for anything that might indicate why my performance in this game is so sub-par, and so far I haven't been able to find anything.
So I'm coming here.
INFOS: ============================================================
Running the game at native 1920 X 1080 resolution (variety of quality settings, discussed below)
Processor: Intel Core2 Duo E7500 @ 2.93 GHz 2.94 GHz
RAM: 8.0 GB
VidCard: ATI Radeon HD 5670 (1024 MB)
Latest video card drivers that I can download.
ATI CCC Settings all follow application settings, so nothing should be forced on.
PROBLEM ========================================================
So. I'm not crashing. I'm just getting piss-poor framerates here. 10-25 even when I turn everything to lame and low. I'm talking zero bells and whistles.
Tried turning resolution down to 1600 X 900, raised me to 15-30. Yay.
My question here, then is: what's the problem with my computer or settings or whatever?
Is it the processor? Is it the video card? Is it both? Is it something entirely different?
I'm not looking for over 60fps constantly here. I'd just appreciate 40 if possible, 30 if not, and I'm not seeing why I'm getting such poor performance (my processor is the only real possible bottleneck that I see here, but even it's well above min).
I would appreciate any help you can offer, and can post more information as requested as I know computers vary heavily.
I am HOPING that I don't have to shelve this until future years, but am not in a position to spend money on upgrades at the moment, so if it's hardware I will have to put it on hold, but it's still good to know either way, and hey... maybe it's not hardware.
Thank you in advance for any help! It's very appreciated.
EDIT: As a frame of reference, I've got Battlefield 3 beta cranked up with all the bells and whistles besides vsync and AA and it's running at a steady 27-30 all day (I know that sounds low, but it looks incredibly smooth on my machine and plays great... and it's cranked vastly higher than The Witcher 2)
