I've been trying to download the patches for this game, but when I try to apply the patch, I get an error telling me that the patch is incompatable with my version of the game. The autopatcher software says my version is 1.1.
OK, the problem seems to be that I can't just update from 1.1 to 2, I have to install all the patches in sequential order. So, I had the updater for 1.2 downloaded, so I installed that, but now I can't make the jump from 1.2 to 1.35, then the jump from 1.35 to 2.

I was having the same problem after trying to reinstall in order to get rid of the 2.1 patch. Do you have the GOG version, Steam version, or a retail copy?

Because if you have the GOG version what I did was re-download the game My Account. Because as patches come out, they also update the actual game files that you download from this site, so that people who bought the game today can already play version 2.0 right off the bat without having to deal with patches.

So when I re-downloaded the game, it was already at 2.0 with no patches. Now all I have to do is remember to hit the No button everytime it asks me if I want to update to 2.1 since that patch stopped my game from working and is the reason I had to re-install my game in the first place.
I have the GOG version. But it doesn't matter now, I just went to the official Witcher 2 site and downloaded the old patches from there. Now I'm up to 2.0.

I don't think this works any more.

They take out the old patches:
1.1->1.2
1.2->1.3
1.3->1.35
from their web.

They left only these patches:
1.0->1.35 (this doesn't works with GOG versions)
1.35->2.0
2.0->2.1

So, I think link1264 is right.
If you bought from GOG, re-download the game from your account.

All of the manual patches are still available at en.thewitcher.com/support/ so as long as you know what version you currently have, you can update to your desired patch level.

Except that for alot of us, trying to use those patches results in nothing but error messages.

This freakin patch stopped my game from working, too !
Ahhhhh! there is this witcher 2 logo and then nothing happens after that. :-( !!

bevinator is right. All the patches are still there. They have made some changes to where the links was so I get confused.

You got there the direct links for the patches from GOG's version 1.0 to 2.0
Just to be clear, when I said that trying to use those patches results in nothing but error messages, I am not talking about using an outdated link. I am talking about downloading the actual patch and when you try to install it all you get is an error message.

May be the auto-patcher is wrong about the version you have installed ...

You should be able to go to your TheWitcher2\bin folder and check the properties/details of the file "witcher2.exe" and compare the version number to these:

1.1 Patch
1.1.6157.43917

1.2 Patch
1.2.6276.44681

1.3 Patch
1.3.6720.47945

1.35 Patch
1.3.7010.49836

2.0 patch
I don't have this number, but should be some where between 1.3.7 and 2.0.8

2.1 patch
2.0.8929.63139
