So i decided to make my fifth playthrough on dark mode, Is it virtually impossible or what. I cant even get past the dragon in the prelude!, I have died 30-40 times just trying to get through the hoardings. i have gotten through twice only to die with one hit from the 6 guys at the end. any tips?

Edit: I know it isn't impossible, i've read of people doing it but... 3-4 hrs?, i've been on this one part for an hr already lol

Hmm, I did die there once on dark mode.
Some tips:
- Remember not to step into the open too long.
- Try to stay with your comrades, that will help against the enemy soldiers.
- Use powerfull attacks to dispatch the enemies quickly.
- Quen

Remember: the game is easely finishable on dark mode, as long as you remember that some things just have to be avoided at all costs. Cases of instant death may occur more often at boss fights.

Thanks for the tips,
Soldiers aren't what i'm struggling with really, its the heavy damage from incineration thats keeps getting me. then i have very little health left when i get to the soldiers. but thanks again
I believe it is possible to avoid the incineration. You have to time your move to the next wooden hoarding.

The dragon is hard even on easy if you don't know what to do.

As @Gromuhl said it's possible to not burn to a crisp.

Basically stay under the wooden structure, look up onto the dragon and when you see it stop breathing, proceed to the next. Repeat again.

As for Dark Mode. Well Normal was hard until the first few hours but after that I aced everything. Though Gargoyles are despicable, if you let them group on on you, than you're dead.

I'm dissappointed by dark mode personally, because the only difference I see between that and normal is that you get hit harder. (and the dark sets make seeing enemies a bit harder with that black fog) You die very easily until you get a nice set of armor and put points in the perk that reduces damage from attacks to your back.

^ This is the key. Took me a number of roasted Geralts in dark mode to figure it out too.
thanks everyone,
I took a little break for dinner, came back to it and got it on the second try.
Thanks for the help :)
