Planning on getting the game...but torn between getting it now at retail and waiting for a Steam sale.

Reason is this; first of all, i like retail/physical bonuses and the premium edition seems pretty. On the other hand, i like to complete achievements (2 achievs away from getting 100% on DEHR) and the steam version has that. Seeing as how 2.0 patch is coming at the end of the month, with possibly a steam sale at the same time, maybe i should just wait for that. But if the game itself has in-game achievements regardless of "platform" i might go for the "retail pretties" after all..
As far as I know The Witcher 2 is not a Steamworks game.

The retail version does not have in-game achievements, no. (And being a fellow Achievement Hunter, I can understand your dilemma. ;) ) That said, there's nothing stopping you from printing out a list of the achievements from the Wiki and just ticking them off as you complete them!
If you got it from steam, than yes it does.
Anyway, the list of achievemnts (If you go and see in the steam store) you'll see they are very simple and not a challenge.
I might be in a minority (perhaps), but I'm happy they didn't introduce achievements. I see them just as artificial ways to force the replay of the game, or a specific type of playthrough.
