downloading right now from GOG.COM as I decided to get the free backup because using the game DVD and going through the witcher website's downloads didn't work. Quick question, the 15 GB game download from GOG.COM includes the game and what patches? Also is a requirement that I must download the enhanced edition patch to play the Witcher 2

I haven't had any messages about corrupted files since they fixed the pack0.dzip one. BUT I have tried patching it with the manual patch twice AND using the full game install as well. No error messages. No messages about corrupt files. But still the game will not even start. Not by launcher or .exe.

And no answers on any forum anywhere. Just lots of people with the same BS.

try running the game as administrator (right click, run as administrator)
The 15GB download is the Enhanced Edition itself. No patching needed.

You have the choice of downloading the bonus pack that includes the Soundtrack (50 tracks @ 320kbps MP3 format), making of videos, bonus videos, artwork, 90 page game guide, High quality wall papers (absolutely beautiful), and even the Triss Merigold issue of playboy.

Yeah, I've done that. Tried to use the configurator to change to windowed mode and check the resolution. I've moved all the save games out and removed any modded files.

Mind you I have had this same problem with both a clean install of the game and the patched version. Neither of them could start.

So far the only resolutions out there are after numerous uninstalls and re-installs....if there are any solutions at all.

The TW2EE_Patch-2.bin file from the download page is coming up corrupt for me. Am I the only one?

Edit: I saw the update to the release announcement page that had a link to the downloader(link below). So I ran that, selected the same folder that contained all the patch files, now it's downloading the corrupt file again. Looks like this'll fix it.

Would it be illegal for people to seed the patch via torrent?

^^^^^ this. I can't see a reason why a free patch would be illegal. GoG could even start a torrent themselves. I've tried my hardest to find a good one, but so few seeders and only going at 9kb/s :(

I have just got the witcher 2 and I just did a clean install then the updater downloaded the enhanced edition patch files and every time I run the installer for the EE pack0.dzip is always corrupted (TW2EE_Patch-2, I have checked and this is always the file in use when the error occurrs, not 1 or 3 always 2). I then re-downloaded it off (http://www.thewitcher.com/ee_manual) and tried, same problem. I then downloaded a new installer which re-downloaded and replaced TW2EE_Patch-2 which was the only thing it replaced. I then tried once again and it still has the error. I also have checked the md5 checksum for the TW2EE_Patch-2 files between the attempts and they matched the official checksums on here:http://en.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?/topic/29690-tw2ee-patch-md5-checksums/.

I have also clicked "Ignore" and let the patcher get through the rest of the install and then cancelled at the last minute and that is the only error I get out of all the files.

I see lots of people have the same problem so It's not just me then.
any info on why this is happening would be appreciated.

If you redownload the installer from this site it will automatically install the Enhanced Edition and you won't have to worry about the patch, which clearly has some issues.

strangely I just restarted and thought I'd give it one more go before bed and it seems to have fixed itself without me changing anything?(so far halfway through with no errors) I made no changes since my previous post and I used the same patch .exe file.

I decided to try manually redownloading files again, so started on my first corrupt one, 11.bin . I downloaded it 3 times in a row manually from the site, and all 3 times it had the same incorrect checksum. What's going on? Did a new set of files get uploaded to replace the corrupt ones so I need to start again, or is the serve that broken that it corrupts the files in the same way each time? :/

Yes, this is the smart play. It's a huge relief knowing I'm not ever going to have to deal with those patch files again.

I downloaded them files on 17.04.12 and they seemed to work just fine. Sometimes it is a browser corrupting your files I won't name one just hint into that direction!

What I did was using wget to get the files: http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/wget.htm (be sure to grab the full setup or miss dependencies).

One huge advantage is that you can continue broken downloads...

The current files available for manual download work, but have completely different checksum values from those files that originally worked, so just downloading the ones that were corrupt previously probably won't work as you'll need the entire set to get it working as the sets no longer match.
