I bough tw2 on gog and it's already updated to 2.0. But I really hate the changes in combat (it's gamebreaking for me). Is there any way to revert to previous version?

thanks.

I know, I'm not much of a power gamer myself, so I've lost interest somewhat, (Mainly due to Skyrim!) as for the downgrade; PCDR is good enough to provide all their patches as a manual download as well. You will have to uninstall and re-patch I'm afraid.
I think he notes that the Witcher 2 version on the GOG shelf is already v2.0,
So he cannot downgrade the product per say.
I am still keeping my original v1.0 installation files, and I am yet to give v2.0 a try...
I completely lost intrest in that game after patch 2.0 for one reason only: parry. I couldn't even force myself to try out new dark mode. The game is broken in it's present state and seeing as CDPRed released the new patch 2.1 that doesn't fix this problem i'm almost ready to abandon this game ultimately.
I dislike the changes to parry myself, it's been rendered useless against stronger foes, but aren't we overreacting a bit? I've found it forced me to dodge more, so positioning myself so that I can use terrain and foe positions to my advantage became an additional element to consider. Yeah, the combat became more intense, even hectic at times, and definitely harder due to this metagame shft, but hey; it's a challenge. That's what games are supposed to be, right?

I'd download the ISO of the retail disc and patch that. AFAIK one of the patches removes the DRM and then you can play it. Since you already bought the game I don't see a problem with doing this, but I'm sure a moral crusader will come telling you that you'll be a filthy pirate if you do.

I find this whole rolling around thing bit annoying. While it may be more challenging with the new parry mechanics, it is just stupid. What's the point of parrying if it doesn't block almost any damage? Why not remove it altogether? The game is already a rollfest as it is.
Don't you think that it would be more reallistic if a master swordsman like Geralt should be able to parry blows without breaking a sweat?
For me this thing is a game breaker and i really don't think i'm overreacting.

Well Geralt does not exactly wear full plate mail...
So as with any combat where pointy, sharp implements are involved... the idea is not to get hit :)

Plus you have the riposte ability which does exactly what you described. Parry properly with the added bonus of a counter attack.

Full armor wouldn't be necessary if you just block the weapon to begin with.

I take it you never tried to swing and block a longsword for an extended period of time? :)

This damage happens every time, not just when Geralt is tired. Plus, Geralt is supposed to be stronger and have more stamina than your average human.

I did, that's why I liked the Vigour-powered version better. But it's far from game-breaking for me at least. Just a bit annoying sometimes.
