I am fairly certain that I dropped the basic silver sword, yet after the dragon fight I still had my imported sword.

Ah, so it's somewhat more severe than I thought. But I should have expected this: if the game is coded to always take the basic silver sword and does not care which one you have equipped, you'll never lose the imported one.

I wonder if they'll patch it.
