I got The Witcher 2 the other day, and it's worked fine the couple times I've run it up until now. But now when I start the launcher it won't let me click any of the options, and just gives me the standard windows "ding" sounds that happens when you're clicking on something that isn't working.

Have you checked if another window opened behind it ? Look in the task bar.
Try a clean boot and run the launcher.

If that fails, back up your saves and reinstall the game.
Is your internet connection working on your Witcher 2 PC? Sometimes the launcher freezes when it cannot connect.

This is what I determined the problem to be. Is there a fix? The whole point of getting drm free games for me is to get around silly things like internet connection.
No fix that I know of. But you can run the witcher2.exe directly from the game folder if you want to bypass the launcher.

You can always bypass the launcher.

You can launch the game using witcher2.exe and if you need to change the settings use configurator.exe. Both executables are in the "... /The Witcher 2/bin" folder.

Edit, eh, eh, ninja'd ;)

Got this issues after upgrading to v2.

Hope they fix it soon as although its not game breaking having to run the game from bin\witcher2.exe it is incredibly annoying!
In my case, the launcher does not respond if there's no internet connection. Created a desktop shortcut of the witcher2.exe file.

Only trouble is, there is an annoying disk check and I have to keep cancelling it. Unless there *is* a disk in the drive, even if it's Oblivion.

Strange problems with V2.
