There is an old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it. " Well I got a wild hair and decided to uninstall and reinstall this thing. It went fine, revoked the Number and all that. Got to the registration process and only got to two. Don't know why I did that knowing the servers are down now I'll have to wait for who knows how long for them to get the things up and running. I have followed the explanations coming out of there, and now after having experienced what a lot of folks have been complaining about, I have come to the conclusion that they are in deep trouble and have perhaps gotten in over their heads to some degree. I am a Moderator on another forum and have been through several Forum Software changes. Once it has been installed on a server, we Moderators are the Beta testers. We usually spend about three months or so getting things right ( this is behind the scenes and out of sight of the regualr members ). Once we have all the features we want and they are running and have been tested then it is time for the change over. The message goes out that the forums will be down at a certain date and time for upgrading. This involves moving all the stuff to the new software ( sometimes not everything transfers over ). The downtime is usually about 8 to 12 hours. From what I've seen, they have tried to do too much at once and possibly may have gotten bottlenecked. I know that they added servers, but wonder if they were enough to undertake what they were trying to do. It wouldn't surprise me if they have to ultimately use third party servers in order to satisfy the folks. You can't release a game and then have it so people can't register the game and get the patches or play it. You can't get the patch if the game has not been registered ( will show as incomplete ) nor can you play it. Again, it will come up as invalid. From a personal standpoint, I did save my save games, so it really isn't of an major concern as I'll play it again at some point. I'm afraid that this is not going to go well for them in the long run. Anyway, I have a few things to look into that I may have overlooked in unistalling the game. For me, it isn't such a big issue as I can work through things and get it solved and at some point I'll be back at it again. I am a bit disappointed that CDCR took the path they did though, as it wasn't the best way to go go and the timing was the worst ever to do what they did. Hopefully they will learned something from this.

Install the 1.1 patch and bam! you don't need any activation servers you can just enter anything in the cd key window. As written on http://en.thewitcher.com/patch.
Hey andreb, I must have been posting this when you posted. Back in business again. Got the patch and the cursor is much better and seems to be smoother over all. It wasn't so bad before, but obviously not the way it was intended. All is good. I was checking through the folders in My Documents and ran across one about an activation patch. I tried it but didn't work and found the same thing in another folder and tried that one and it worked ad downloaded a bunch of stuff and was able to play the game again. Guess I need to clean out the unnecessary junk now. When I reinstalled it, I kept the save files and have checked and all is good, except I still have to deal with Kayran. : )
