McKnallski: The Tool just can´t find the Witcher 2 Process. I am starting with the witcher2.exe. I am using the GoG Version 1.0.6041.43456. I also slected the GoG Version in the Tool. But still cannot find the Process. I am running as Administrator.
If I remember correctly, the tool doesn't work on Win XP (yet). The author simply didn't think about testing it on XP.
I've got the tool working with fixed files from gamecopyworld. But i get CTD when using the tool and trying to load a save.

Got it working just fine on XP SP3, gog version. Of course, it looks kinda squashed and weird and I'll be waiting for official 4:3 support, but it's not the tool's fault.
Oh, and I just selected "Latest version" in the tool, if that's important.

On 1280x1024 resolution it's worse playing with this fix than having black bars. Streched menus and characters don't look nice. Plus there's weird blur.

It seems there is something wrong in your settings, works fine for me.
Altough, I start flawless widescreen with fix disabled, then start TW2 and enable fix while in game.

"Remove vertical black bars" gives the weird blur and "Strech HUD vertically", well, streches it and it looks bad.
Sadly it still doesn't work for me. I have tried running it from the zip and by putting it in another folder. Also tried running as admin both with the game off first then on. Says it detects the game and fixes it, but nothing happens.
I actually finally got it to work! God I am so happy. What I had to do was run the game from the actual game exe file as an admin, then with the fix OFF, after the game loads you tab out and turn the fix on. I came back and poof it's stretched and works! Finally, I can play this without feeling bad!
There is a new updated Verion available, which works finally on Win XP. For me it also works, when I start the GoG Version via the Launcher.

maul_inc: Here's a link for a nifty Widescreen fixer tool for the Witcher 2 & various other games.

http://www.flawlesswidescreen.org/

It should be able to remove the black bars in Witcher 2.

Ps. It's in beta, and it didn't work for my version of the Witcher 2, but as the author says, it's tested with the Steam version.
You sir, deserve a cookie!

...

As I can't seem to cram the cookie to my DVD drive, have some rep instead.
Works flawlessly! Thanks a lot :)

Note: run the game from witcher2.exe not the launcher.

For me it works even when I use the Launcher (GoG Version).

anyone know if this fixes the problem of the game not running if your desktop widescreen resolution is the same as the games?

IE My desktop is 2048x1152 as is the games setup but if I run the game, it wont work, I have to lower my desk top to a lower number THEN launch the game and it will run on my monitors resolution

The issue isn't as you described actually. The real issue is the game doesn't support a native resolution as high as the one you posted.

Another possible "solution" until they patch the game to support resolutions that high (in full screen mode), is to run it windowed, and then via third party programs or scripts, maximize the window into a borderless window, thereby emulating fullscreen, while letting you keep your original native resolution.
