So on my playthrough I decided not to give the recipe to the scholar which meant that I ended up not going to his secret lab. However since I went to his lab before on previous playthroughs I decided to go look for it after finishing the quest.
However once I got to the place, the entrance was just not there. Is this normal and part of the game design?
Heres a screenshot of where the cave entrance was supposed to be at:
