Dear CDProjekt Developers,
Thank you, from the bottom of my PC-gaming heart, for The Witcher 2. It was everything I had hoped it would be, and more, with quite a few very pleasant surprises thrown in (the attention to detail given to every boob in the game was particularly memorable).
No, it's not a perfect game, but so what? I enjoyed it, I am happy I paid for it, it was both fun and challenging and the graphics... my God, they were simply incredible. Please convey the depth of my admiration to your art team, they did a spectacular job.
I loved the fact that I got my arse kicked in combat until I learned to use all the tools that you so thoughtfully placed at my disposal. I loved that I had to choose how I wanted to spec Geralt, and that I couldn't just upgrade all of his abilities in a single playthrough. I very much enjoyed the choices presented to me, and their very real consequences. Multiple playthroughs, here I come.
The story was incredibly political, which is a refreshing change from the cliched "you need to stop villain X or the world will be destroyed" bollocks seen all too frequently in today's games. Thank you for being brave and trying something different - it was, to me, a great success.
While I did experience the odd bug, there were no game-breakers. I would have liked Geralt to respond to my commands a littler quicker after being hit in combat, however, and being ganked by a group of enemies through an unstoppable sequence of blows was occasionally annoying (until I got the hang of bombs, that is). I also wasn't very fond of your choice of savegame placement in the Draug boss encounter, which I sincerely hope is addressed in an upcoming patch, if not for me then for future TW2 players. Apart from these minor gripes, though, my experience was quite smooth.
The Witcher 2 felt like an old-school PC game, one that required more of me than any game I've played recently, which is probably why progressing through the levels was so satisfying. Combat, with a little experience, patience and a willingness to learn, was particularly gratifying the further I progressed.
Thank you to everyone involved for creating such a superb game, and thank you for showing your commitment to the fans of the series with the upcoming - and FREE - v2.0 update that will add in a whole bunch of new content. We need more devs like you guys.
I hope you all make a bucketload of cash and carry on making awesome games in the future.
Cheers
