Post your system specs and do you have the page file enabled? I had a similar issue which was because the game ran out of RAM(memory leak I guess)
This problem on the system with following specs :
CPU : Intel Core Duo Quad Q9550
VGA : HSI Radeon HD 5850 1GB DDR5
RAM : 4GB

and also virtual memory is enabled on my system.

It's your windows x64?
Try to defrag your HD.
Game closes by itself unexpectedly. Windows XP pro, Nvidia GT9500 with up-to-date drivers, 4 gigs ram on 500gig HDD. Direct X 9c. Disk is clean, no viruses or spyware according to Microsoft Security Essentials. No problems at first but now it happens too many times. Game is no fun. Any other ideas?

Your graphics card is pretty weak and it might be time for an upgrade... But I don't think a dated GPU would explain the program crashing frequently... It sounds like it could be some sort of memory issue...

Try increasing your virtual memory. For a how to: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/sysdm_advancd_perform_change_vmpagefile.mspx?mfr=true
Minimum requirement (nvidia) is an 8800. The 9500 GT is just a rebranded 8500 GT, below the minimum specs. Likely the culprit is the card.

9500 GT is actually an updated 8600 GT. Still below the minimum requirement, down around the bare minimum of playability, but not to the extent of causing CTD's.

I'm beginning to suspect that a lot of CTD's in The Witcher 2 are caused by mode switching. Especially with nVidia drivers more recent than 275, the driver tries to save power by switching between 3D and 2D modes frequently. CPUs using SpeedStep (Intel) or Cool 'n' Quiet (AMD) are also subject to mode switches. On some platforms, the system is momentarily unstable during a CPU or GPU mode switch, and operations in other threads may be impacted. Anything that is overclocked or overvoltaged (even factory overclocks) is a likely suspect.

I get the same problem with 2x570GTX's so his card is not the issue and I followed many threads to here trying to find an answer.

Some people on 32Bit OS's have found a fix but others (like myself) on win7 64bit are SOL. The first witcher crashed often for me and I'm finding the same problem here despite waiting until it was well patched before going near it.

Hats off to CDprojecktred on making a stunning looking game but by christ I wish they could make one that didn't CTD a hundred times in the many hours it takes getting through a witcher game.

Corei7@3.1
2x570GTX's
6GB Ram
Win7 64Bit
Witcher 2 version 2.1
2.85.79 drivers
Playing in Nvidia Surround which I can't even disable as selecting 1920x1080 still results in my native 5976x1080 displaying in game.

My GRAPHICS CARD IS WEAK? Is One GIG considered "weak" these days?
