Hello there!

My copy of The Witcher 2 ain't installing. It copies off the DVD's fine, but then it gets stuck on the installing redistributables step. I've searched on google and found people reporting this same issue, but no solution posted anywhere.

I've tried running as admin, installing from the hidden admin account in w7, installing in a different folder, deinstalling the c++ distributables I already had installed because logitech software uses it... all to no avail.

My windows 7 is legit and fully updated.

I'm truly desperate - I wanted to play The Witcher 2 since launch but only recently I bought a new computer that can handle it (an HP laptop with i7 2630 and 6770m radeon). I've tried several internet forums, The Witcher 2 official forums tech support, I've even posted on the official Installshield forums, no useful answer so far. I did submit an issue to CDprojekt official support, but no reply yet and I don't know how it'll go considering they apparently only take questions about the game starting or running, but not installing.

HELP!

Thanks for your time!

ps: yes, I know this is the gog forum and I obviously own the boxed EE, it's just I'm desperate and I really enjoy these RPG games. Have some pity for a beteran who cut his teeth with the Bard's Tale and the SSI games. Again, thanks.

Do you get any error messages?

Try copying the DVD contents to a folder on desktop, then run setup from that folder.
Hey, can we have a screenshot where it stops indefinitely..

If the installation of redistributables is a separate installation from the game's like this ->
http://www.innoheim.com/guide/litecam3/assets/installation_litecam_clip_image018.jpg <-, then may be you can just terminate that specific installer and let Witcher 2 setup continue.

Welcome to the world of PC. Something you might have installed previously must be messing up your system. Try to install the game on a freshly installed computer. If I have to work I use virtual machines for my work software and leave the host OS for games. Trying to truly pinpoint exactly what the problem is is usually a pain in the ass. Your choice.
