Why is the UK edition $30 more expensive? The US version is $29.99, but the UK is $64.99. Its the same game, why are UK gamers being ripped off like this? If something isn't done, I will take my business elsewhere. Amazon has the same game for £25, much cheaper than here for the UK version, but more expensive than GOG for the American Version. Its ridiculous.
GOG sells the Witcher 2 for $49.99. You may find it on sale somewhere for less, but I can't where it is selling for $29.99.

And if you read the GOG site, they have a Price Equality guarantee - so you should pay the same price from GOG anywhere in the world.

I have heard the same complaints from Australian gamers, who seem to get hooped on game prices over there
There was a promo that ended on June 6th that reduced the price by 40%, this might be the source of the confusion.

As for the "why": GoG is owned by CDP, which is part of the holding the developers of TW2, CDPR, belong to. However there are more distributors that CDPR had to negotiate with worldwide. They were basically forced by the business to offer prices that would not undercut the other disctributors, and the gaming industry currently has a terrible policy of charging the eurozone and UK more than the rest of the wolrd.

HOWEVER, and this is important to note, GOG is offering a Fair Price package, which means that you will get the difference between what you'd pay in USD in the form of store credit. They are the only digital distributor to actually treat us equally.
Yeah, that is the source of confusion, the add is still there. I was waiting all weekend for money to transfer to my bank account to get this game for £19.99, but when the transfer is complete and I go to buy the game, the price has shot up. I'm sorry GOG, I didn't know the sale had ended, although as for a price guarantee, is wrong, £25 on Amazon, £29 on steam, even GAME is cheaper at £28, but GOG is £40. So much for price guarantee.
Also, $49.99 is £32, so Americans still get it cheaper. Although we get $16 of credit, which is nice, it still means that GOG are forcing me to overspend, and essentially give me store credit. So they still get my £40. Downloads should be cheaper than a retail disk, but its not. Guess my money is going to Amazon.

What price guarantee? The only promise GoG made was that no matter where you are hailing from you will recieve a package that gives you the game at the same price as everyone else. It's a Fair Price guarantee, not the promise to be the cheapest one.

Yes, and as I've said they were forced to by the legal constraints of their publishing partners. Still they went through all the trouble to try and compensate you for it, even though they could've just taken the additional profit. Compared to other publishers the are loosing profit since they give you something the competition would charge you for. Really, GoG are the good guys here, and a stellar example of how to both treat a customer and question the current shrewd industry practices.

And noone is really forcing you to buy here. That's the free market for you, you can go and buy it somewhere else. And you know what GoG will do? They'll give you the chance to register your game here for a free backup, and you'll get all the goodies you'd get from here qwould you decide to buy their version. Because they are the good guys.
...And if you buy from GOG, you're supporting the Good Guys.

It's too bad you missed their sale. No matter what you end up paying for the game - it IS worth it.
Thats the thing, I want to support the developer, but not if it costs me twice as much as elsewhere. I appreciate I misunderstood what was meant by price guarantee, but I still find it stupid that I have to pay more for the same product just because I am in a different country. Its not even like I am in an obscure small country. But as GOG essentially cuts out the middle man, and does not have the extra expense of packaging, I was expecting a cheaper price. I might wait until the next sale, as , like I said, I want to support the developer, but I still feel like UK gamers are being ripped off.

And I wholeheartedl agree with you! It's the fault of the way the industry works at the moment, there are just few publishers that have the money to work world-wide with AAA titles, and they are dictating the rules. CDPR could either take their offer or be forced to self-piblish which would mean much less sales and profit, ultimately killing the Witcher series because of the competition.

I sincerely hope the digital market will change things. We already see indie devs selling their titles worldwide thanks to the possibility of digital distribution and earning a lot of money. They will always be at a disadvantage - their advertising budget for example, unless they go viral like Minecraft. But the wind of change is blowing, and hopefully practices like draconic DRM, localised price arrangements and terrible DLC policy will change in the future. The only thing we as consumers can do, is to vote with our wallets.
