Rohomild: I find these re-releases so weird. The game is already done, so the only selling point is that this would be a super polished edition with a few new bells and whistles.
But instead the trend seem to be "Release a buggy mess that's worse than the OG, fix a few bugs post release and hope for the best."
The OG game's done, and should not really need to be rushed to get game critical features done to meet a deadline set when the game was still in development.
The re-release should've had virtually infinite time to fix bugs and making it run well before trying to sell it, sense that is the only thing it's bringing to the table.
But I guess that the main feature of this type of business model. Release the same game again and hope nobody notices that you've added essentially nothing and that it's a worse version of the OG game.
Keep in mind, this is a Remaster...and it's only on PS5/XSS/XSX, so it's basically also Next-Gen Only - no matter what you think of the graphics "quality". They ain't aiming for old hardware like X1 or PS4 type of hardware at all.
This PS5/XSS/XSX is what they are aiming for hardware-wise - so those are likely your real min's, no matter what the sheet says.
So, this also means gamers should be expecting THOSE newer systems and that type of power for the bare minimums. So, that means gamers need some sort of modern GPU (probably Intel i5 10th gen or newer or AMD equivalent), 16 GB RAM, and a 6-8gb VRAM GPU with 2060-2080 type of power.
Also, let's keep in mind - Private Division just had some lay-off's too, unfortunately.
See this -
https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/take-two-confirm-layoffs-affecting-private-division-despite-exponential-growth-in-recent-years So, yeah - they (Private Division and/or Take-Two) are trying save $ (hire less and lay-off employees) and also make some $ (hence this Remaster of The Outer Worlds existing).
We've also had a lot of PC ports that have had some issues of late, which are basically PS5/XSX versions ported to PC and are going to just flat-out need more power - Gotham Knights; Dead Space Remake; Deathloop; Forspoken; Hogwarts; and the list keeps growing. Some of these have Shader Compilation Stutters, frame-time issues, and/or very CPU-bound. So, yeah - until our PC power advances immensely again; Microsoft improves DirectX's pipeline; Nvidia or AMD can work on improving how Shaders work and/or power; dev's and pub's optimize their games better; Epic and other Engine makers improve their Engine's pipeline and/or how Shaders work; better deadlines and/or games get delayed so they can be released properly; less emphasis on "Release Now, Patch Later"; and/or a bunch of these or all of these happen - yeah, I'd expect more growing pains like this.
Means...well, might be just a good idea to stick to my backlog; run those great games great on hardware that can handle them.
The more I see Remasters, Remakes, and poor PC ports for whatever reasons on new titles broken upon release - yeah, maybe I should just keep waiting.
