By the way, I'll be back from my vacation on Monday. So I'll be able to join the next game.
Do we have a go at the next game soon? I'm itching to catch and lynch scum. Yes, even if I'm scum.
I had an idea for a hidden modifier, something along the lines of "regenerative".

It's a sort of cross between bulletproof and a Day X innocent child - the idea is that when someone dies they flip as normal (just their role, not the modifier) but then come back to life later in the game. If they get killed again then they stay dead.

I think one full cycle dead seems about right, so if they are lunched on D1 they miss N1 and D2 and revive on N2 able to act (if they have a power) and be targeted. Their presence would only become apparent the next day.
If they are killed on N1, they miss D2 and N2 before turning up alive on D3.

Their revival wouldn't necessarily be announced, their presence would be made apparent by their return to posting and the fact that their being alive is reflected by the "With X players alive it takes Y votes to lunch".

After reviving they are effectively an innocent child, having been confirmed by their first death. As a modifier you can choose whether to pair it with a VT or something like a cop (significantly more powerful)

If a game is at MYLO (let's say 4 town, 2 scum) and the regenerator dies, it won't be enough to save the town because by the time they wake up it'll already be too late.

I'm mostly imagining this as a modifier for town, since alignment is confirmed on their first flip. You could have a scum or SK version, which would be interesting but a bit bastardy. In that case their alignment would be known from their first flip and they would have no incentive to make their revival known. It would be up to the town to spot that the voting numbers reflect an unexpected number of players.

We just need to get more players. Bump Joe's thread like your life depends on it!

That's a pretty nice idea. But...

I'm not a fan of the above. I think such things should be made clear to players, so they don't wonder whether it's a mistake on mod's part (especially given how often mods do make such mistakes here).

I'd make a post like:
"X has been revived and is back in the game" without giving the reasons as to why it happened. So the players don't know if it's a hidden passive modifier, or some other player having revival ability (*). But they do know that the player is back.
And that does make it a Town-only role.

(*)
Now there is an idea: a Townie gets a Resurrectionist PR. He can resurrect another Townie player and they return to life one full cycle (one N, one D) later. You can't leave it to MYLO since it becomes too late. The revived player loses any abilities so they essentially become Innocent Child.
For a slightly bastardly twist, make one of the Mafiosos a compulsive D2 Resurrectionist. i.e. he has to resurrect a single Townie no later than by end of N2. Otherwise he himself dies (so technically he can sacrifice himself to prevent bringing the Townie back). Note that "Resurretionist" would be a strong claim for the Mafioso, since it's obviously easily verified with no counterclaim, and no one would suspect it to be non-Townie.

PS. Do these musing indicate you're ready to host another non-mountainous game? Reserve seat 1 for me please.

A man prays to win the lottery... Every night, he prays to God, "Please Lord, let me win the lottery tomorrow". Years go by and the man continues to pray. Finally, one night he gets an answer from God. He says the usual prayer, "Please Lord, let me win the lottery tomorrow". And finally God says, "Okay, but you gotta help me out here. At least go and buy a lottery ticket."

I did think of that, but I would expect the players to question the mod or ask for it to be corrected. Usually we do call the mod out for mistakes and I like the idea of there being a chance that it isn't.

Hmm, could be interesting. Yeah, a mafia resurrectionist is definitely bastard territory (as would be a regenerative mafioso or SK).

I was hoping someone else would want to use it really, but I suppose I could run a non-mountainous game at some point. Just don't expect it to be balanced, or even non-bastard really.

IIRC we had some kind of role that could resurrect someone else, right?
Not the same way but the resurrection ability was there. I think I remember it but I can't find it RN.

Edit: Ugh, forget it. It was my own game and it is better to not bring that one up.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Probably 28. Might have been a much later game, since I didn't bother checking all of them.

It is indeed #28.
There was role that allowed to resurrect dead player but only for 1 Day and then they would die again.
I think I would allow it ofr Day and Night if I was to do again.
I think Sage used it on Krypsyn.

But enough talking about that game. Let's bury it and forget it forever because there is nothing to talk about.
So, guys remember game 28? That was something, eh?

I don't! Someone should tell me all about it.
