Whew! I thought I was alone with this problem. Yep, can access the store, and still can't connect to my account.
Update:
There's definitely something wrong with servers. I was connected, while I wrote the post. I reloaded Galaxy, aaand here we go again... :(

Erm why is the Galaxy download bar/button missing from the front page? I think someone forgot something...
You should bring back the old folder system in which installers were downloaded in a temp folder and then moved. Now Galaxy create a temp folder (which inside has another folder with the name of the game, which doesn't make sense) in each game folder while downloading the installer that then has to be deleted manually. You managed to make life harder for the one that prefer to backup installers.

Before:
Download in temp folder: #download_folder#/!temp/game_name/
When finished moved to the #download_folder#

Now:
Download in temp folder: #download_folder#/game_name/!Temp/game_name/
When finished moved to the game folder: #download_folder#/game_name/
#download_folder#/game_name/!Temp/ is not deleted

EDIT: Actually yep you are correct. Based on a few test it only happens though when a custom backup location is set. If you use the default location inside the game directory !Temp will clean itself up and auto delete (at-least in my test) after the download is finished. Probably a simple oversight. I'm not even sure why they are using a temp folder still, they changed this for regular installs via Galaxy so they now download directly into the desired installation folder, they should do the same for backups since the !Temp folder is really not needed and adds an extra unneeded step.

Not sure why you need to delete a left over empty folder though unless you just do it to to keep your folders cleaned up...

In my test on 1.2.6 it goes:

-Default-
Download in temp folder: game_directory/game_name/!Temp
When finished moved to the game folder: game_directory/game_name/!Downloads
Delete !Temp folder.

-Custom-
Download in temp folder: custom_folder/game_name/!Temp
When finished moved to the game folder: custom_folder/game_name/
Fail to delete !Temp folder.

I prefer my folder cleaned up. I also don't understand the reason for the game_name redundancy. If the temp folder is already in the game folder, what is the point in having the files downloaded in a subfolder?

I like having a temp folder, that way I can be sure the download has finished. Given the poor state of software developement in which Galaxy is right now, it is a much needed feature for me as downloads often fail for unknown reasons. And obviously they failed downloads are removed from the download list without being able to retry them. Not having a way to know if I had download the game or order them by last update I then have to remember which game I had to download. Notification sometimes worked before (before GOG nukem them for good) but they clear themself up after consulting them. So GOG put a series of obstacles to backup management.
Galaxy vers 1.2.6 is always freezing, especially frustrating seeing as I have close to 500 games that are updating at this time, I constantly have to hard restart it! Otherwise, I love using it, but it looks like I'll have to revert back to my manual short-cuts from now on if this keeps up!

I'm just glad steam doesn't behave the same, otherwise I would be locked out of my games!

EDIT: Goddammit it Froze yet again after I exited a game, I'm reverting back to 1.1 beta as it was much more stable than 1.2!

You can't really. Galaxy isn't in beta anymore as of 1.2.x. If you are seeing BETA it's because you have preview updates still enabled. But the official release is 1.2.6 now.

If you try to go back it will auto-update again...

For the custom location the temp folder probably should be placed in the upper directory meaning custom_folder/!Temp but in the grand scheme of things it isn't a huge difference or a hard change. Again probably an oversight...

Maybe, but it still would be possible to tell when a file has actually completely downloaded or not. I've never had issues myself with Galaxy removing failed downloads unless the client got restarted. But as someone with unreliable internet I understand the frustration.

It's not an issue on my connection, it's GOG infrastructure the often fails to deliver requested files.
And to try the download again I have to search for the game, go to the backup menu and click each file again.
Hi all,

we had an outage yesterday, and most of the above issues can be traced to that. We have managed to solve most of the problem by now :) Sorry for the trouble.

BKGaming: What about the other people with this issue? I don't know seems a bit unlikely this is totally related to using remote desktop (unless your talking specifically about that user)... I've seen like 5 - 10 people suggest this issue is happening to them. I mean you got four people here claiming it's happening, some on Windows and other on a MAC . Also a report and another in a [url=https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_126_crashes_when_i_log_in]thead and a few people in this very thread and some I'm probably missing. Just pointing out it seems to be kind of more widespread on 1.2.6 then your average issue with Galaxy.
Thanks for those links, I'll look into those. I'm definitively not saying this is strictly Remote Desktop related. Well, especially the one on MacOS isn't :) We're looking into these issues right now.

Could it be that this outage also is the reason why the achievements in "Layers of fear" did not work? I already opened a support ticket.

Edit: Nevermind - they are still broken :(

Considering the server errors in my logs... most likley:

2017-05-01 15:37:55.582 [Error][ (0)]: [JS] Error: gameAchievementsFetcher error: 500 Internal Server Error, for...

EDIT: If you tried again, then yea might be another reason.

Thank you for looking into this. As I said I just tried it again so if the servers should be fixed now the reason for this issue must be another one.
GOG Galaxy on my PC just close after telling me connection to the GOG Service was lost. Still having server outage? It was doing that when I first updated to 1.2.6 but started to work about a day later and stayed up for few days and now the disconnect is happening again.
