arhodes8809: I loved the text adventure portion of Pillars where you needed certain items and had to choose how to proceed. I just wish a whole RPG game was built the same way.
How about Steve Jackson's Sorcery then? I hear it starts out as a regular Choose Your Own Adventure game in Parts 1 & 2 and then becomes more and more of an RPG in Parts & [url=http://store.steampowered.com/app/504800/Sorcery_Part_4/]4. Haven't played it enough myself yet though, and AFAIK you don't play a party, just a single character. It's also not available on GOG, only on Steam or for your mobile devices. But it's supposed to be pretty good.

Ah thanks my bad, I missed/forgot that it came here
Maybe Shadowrun games?

It has a handful of skill and item checks that let you proceed one way or another.
Temple of Elemental Evil should do the trick for you.

Edited: (In the last year, I have - once again - completed TOEE, SW KOTOR I & II, IWD I & II, and NWN I & II.)

Arcanum of Steamworks might be another solid choice. Though, except for the party part. It's pretty much solo, but with optional party members like in Fallout 1 and 2.

I don't know about that, as far as the actual role playing goes. Sure, there's some, but it's really much more of a turn-based combat heavy RPG..
Drakensang?
True.

As a side note, I use the Circle of Eight Modding Community for some of the games.

I think, the three Shadowrun games match the description.

arhodes8809: Hm, I've read about this -but never got into the roman setting and lack of creatures. I like my RPGs as classic D&D as possible. Is it as good as folks say huh? I'm partial to first person RPGs, but I guess I can't be too picky huh?
It's in my to-play list, so I can't speak from personal experience, but it apparently allows you to play any style you like: you can go completely non-combat if you want, and there are tons of skill checks. From what I understand, you actually have to play through a number of times with different character types in order to see all the content (it's specifically designed so that the experience is different depending on your play style).

arhodes8809: Is there a classic first person RPG that has what Age of Decadence does?
Can't stand first person perspective myself, so don't have any suggestions for that offhand.
Have you tried Wasteland? It is very dependant on both combat and non combat skills, when rock climbing or crossing a river each member of your squad needs to make individual climbing or swiming skill checks. You may find that one of your team drowned or broke a leg, hopefully not your medic so they can help revive the injured character. If a character does die you can always go back to base and hire a new one. As long as one person is alive you get to keep playing, so noe of that "chosen one" stuff. In fact you can even split the party up and send different members to various locations to help plan ambushes. There are no Boots of Flying, but there is a helicopter.
Tons of great suggestions here. Really appreciate it. Buying Realms of Arkania 3 and Drakensang to give them a whirl. But Wasteland sounds pretty great too. As do a few others y'all mentioned. Thanks.

Yes. Sorcery is exactly the sort of adventure rpg I love. Are there any other games like this? Besides the ones from the same company. Any older games in this style??

The only way to lplay ToEE. Did you use the Temple+ mod as well?
If it's a western RPG why not try Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2? Should keep you busy...
If it's a japanese one..go with Chrono Trigger :)
