babark: Dark Souls is a series I've often heard said that imparts the lore of the world through exploration and implicit viewing of your surroundings and location, but I've never been able to get far enough into the game to experience that.
I can confirm that. You learn location of Lordran (a land where most of the first game takes place) by visiting "Ash Lake" location (and there is a place in "Tomb of Giants" where you also see <spoiler>).
