Niggles: Awful bundle. Humble getting desperate.

amok: is this your only reply ever on any humble bundle? You are indeed a broken record. I wonder why you even bother read these threads.

22 games for $10. DRM free and Linux. Classic games. Awful indeed. The only reason not to pick this up is if you do not like NeoGeo - but that does not make it awful.
Dude. As someone else said about you a while back "Once a troll, always a troll". Enuf said. Awful bundle.

well, good to see you openly admit it, at least. kudos for that.

Smannesman: Now an Atari Jaguar bundle, that would be interesting.

catpower1980: Couple that with a 3DO bundle and Internet will explode :o)
When you say 3DO I always think about John Van Caneghem's 3DO. Oh my beloved Might and Magic!
Doesn't interest me in the slightest. Actually, very little this year has interested me. The prices they want for some of the games/books/comics they have offered are ludicrous.
Getting this one at $10 because I've played enough Neo Geo games through emulation over the years that SNK deserves the money.
Can someone confirm if the roms can be extracted and played via an emulator of choice?
I'd be interrested in buying the roms alone.

The roms are apparently just lying there in the game folders. And a friend said they worked in MAME.

Content wise, I vehemently disagree. I've bough many of these titles over and over again, and these titles have a lot of long time fans. I'm not sure what these ports really "are" and if they are something that should be trusted, but content wise, I find this the most interesting bundle in a long time.

Have a look here. I have suspicions of the mslug2 zip file, its 16.4MBs, and all.

I got the full bundle just for the memories, although I used to suck at most of these SNK fighting games... I really hope some of the Super Sidekicks games get added to the bundle next week. Now, those I was good at! :D
Just tested Metal Slug, I can't play the roms in either MAME or NeoRageX, both complain about missing rom components. Which wouldn't be so bad if the emulation itself in this version weren't so sluggish when there's multiple objects on-screen despite my computer being able to play modern games with all the works turned on. Even the Tages-infested retail Anthology version ran smoothly on my old Windows XP machine. =\

catpower1980: OK, since no-one has yet said it, I'll do it:

Why should I pay for games which have been available for years through arcade emulators? And in this case, what's the plus-value if it's just simple "wrapped-up" emulation like some dosbox stuff on GOG?

OK, you can throw stones at me now :o)
(but hey, I'm honestly quite sceptical about this bundle, so I welcome answers)
Well, I'm in support of this bundle and am buying the $10 tier for these reasons:

1. I remember the time when legally owning a license for these games would have cost thousands of dollars.

2. Never has a legal license for these all these SNK games been this cheap before.

3. With a purchased license for arcade-perfect ROMs, you are legally allowed to use them on MAME without having to own and transfer the data from the arcade boards.

4. This bundle seems to be pretty unpopular in mainstream PC gaming crowds because it does not include Steam keys. Purchasing it gives support for the DRM-Free movement and lets HumbleBundle as well as SNK and other publishers know that things don't have to be tied to Steam to be profitable.

5. I, for one, do not mind paying a reasonable sum of money to legally own a license to forever play DRM-free perfect-arcade ports of games. If this could set a precedent for others to follow, and if other arcade classics were released in this manner, it could bring in some legal legitimacy to the world of MAME-based arcade emulation.

Hmmm, that's unfortunate to hear. What MAME version are you using?

The latest one, 0.168 64-bit.

Just join Fightcade, if you want to fight online (which I think this bundle doesn't allow you to do, unfortunately!)
Bought it for the legal rights to own the ROMs. The emulation is god awful.
