New World looks like gw2. These guys copied gw2 and that is bad.

New World has a ridiculous premise that makes no sense to anyone not American.

New World is just .....so damn bad because of the above two points.
I could make a gigantic list of how bad it is.

I just read through a cancelled list of 5 mmos. One the guy spent 50 million on developers. Another was Blizzards 'best' on it. Both epic fails. At some point immediately after World of Warcraft copycats started to waste exorbitant amounts on mmo after mmo. I lost count. None of these investors listened to people like me. They all failed. Had they spent a fraction of the hundreds of millions on real gamers like me who are smart, perhaps the story would be different....instead, they spent year after year for 15 years at least saying F U to real gamers. They have larper reviewers now too, pretending to know what they want or what is good. The investors are the ones in control, while we aren't. But both groups investors and real gamers are being kept apart from connecting up.

It's crazy and madness.
As someone who hasn't played any MMOs but took a look at the store page, the premise of the game is described as:

''Fate has summoned you to the shores of Aeternum, the Eternal Isle. Overcome the brutal legions of The Corrupted and draw battle lines with competing players in this open world MMO fraught with danger and opportunity.''

How is that something that only appeals to Americans? The new world setting (if that actually is the setting) is certainly more original than generic medieval fantasy or viking mythology.

They mean the New World as in the Americas. They wanted to then put fantasy into that. As you can immediately see, that doesn't make sense. Like putting world of warcraft style fantasy into colonial British India setting....and I don't mean Draenei

I had to google for what New World is (some forthcoming Amazon.com MMO that will be running on Steam, apparently), so the remaining question is:

What is gw2?

Either way, I don't think I am interested, since I've passed all the earlier MMOs as well (unless Quake TeamFortress, TeamFortress Classic and Team Fortress 2 qualify as MMOs, but I don't think they do).

I'm guessing Guild Wars 2

Its generic marketing material but considering the new world / newly discovered Americas theme, that island could be Cuba, since that was a major relay and resupply point between Europe and the Americas. Completely ignoring gameplay for a second as it could go either way, the setting could be interesting if it incorporates Mesoamerican mythology and doesn't turn out to be an uprooting and replanting of generic fantasy MMO no.999 into the tropics. Also would be some of few games set in tropical areas now that I think about it.

Expeditions Conquistador and Greedfall are two games that have a similar setting and from what I've seen of EC, its great (no spoilers plz, waiting to play it) and I've read Greedfall isn't bad either.

Must've been the constant wars, or the bubonic plague... poverty maybe... the occasional famine (no new world crops back then - imagine no corn, no potatoes, no tomatoes, no bell peppers - just lentils, wheat and beans)... the dark ages with their inquisitions and witch hunts... I'm surprised anyone stayed back here in those times.

those came in the medieval. the dark ages were long before the inquisition.

also witch hunting was carried over with colonisation.
