Post what you do when you eat (besides eating of course). Do you eat at a dining table or somewhere else where you're comfortable? At home, do you eat in front of the PC while watching youtube / something else? Or do you eat while watching TV? Or maybe you sit at a dining table but watch / listen to something on your phone while you eat? I'll go first:

At work:
Eating with coworkers at the cafeteria / eat-out place where we've decided to go. While eating, don't watch / listen to anything or scroll and talk to other people 99% of the time unless there's something urgent that requires chatting while eating.

At home:
Eat in front of the PC 99% of the time if I don't have to go out afterwards. Will mostly be watching youtube. Its fun to watch a great video while eating something you like but as of late, youtube is really bad a suggesting good vids and I fell like I'm trying to find an acceptable video just so I can have something to watch while I eat rather than saving time by eating while watching something I wanted to watch anyway.

I've heard people listen to podcasts / news on their phone while eating but isn't that inconvenient? Isn't it a hassle to use touch controls on a tiny screen while eating?

What I seek: my current build seems inefficient. I neither take away much from the stuff I watch nor do I fell like I at well because I feel like finishing if the video is over or feel like I need to get something else to eat if I finish before the video ends. But eating without doing something else seems boring. What is the solution?
Talking about eating.... That''s an interesting question and not usual. I eat in the living room, in a table. I do not have TV so I watch my computer sometimes a film, an episode (TV Show). I do not mind finish eating before the end the of film or the episode. I will finish them later :.)
If I eat at work, I try to go with other people to talk and we try to resolve the world problems :-)
I have a rather large kitchen counter, with a barstool. I eat there, and subsequently, my little fanless netbook resides there as well (typing this on that). I stream news/tv on it while I'm eating. I don't have a television, haven't for 15 years.

My main gaming laptop sits in my bedroom at a computer desk, no food or drink goes in there. This little netbook is fanless and durable and has a spill proof keyboard, so I'm less concerned about it.

I don't have furniture to speak of. No couch, dining table, tv. I'm pretty basic and minimalist (and like it that way).

I eat in bed since I haven't a single chair in my apartment. :(

I'm all about the cozy. My favorite chair to sit in when I eat at home is the same one that I use to play games:

My cat likes to hang out with me. If I'm eating, he's usually up on the top of the chair's back. However he likes to lapsit while I'm eating breakfast.... so I have a lap full of laptop and cat while I'm trying to eat a bowl of oatmeal with craisins

Here you go. If you pace yourself, that could last you weeks!

Edited to fix link

6 days of eating in front of the computer.
And on the 7th day, a hearty soup made from all the scraps that stuck in the keyboard. XD
Cook, eat, and wash in the kitchen, all while standing, for neatness, speed and efficiency; also good for the digestion, and works off cals, all while ingesting them.

I guess that comes down to habit (or discipline); are you likely to binge-watch through youtube / netflix / similar services or do you decide how much you want to watch and stop once you reach that point?
I'm not a serial scroller but I do go down rabbitholes on youtube where one vid leads to another and I eventually waste time.

Do you have a set channel / show / newsfeed you watch while eating or just pick something interesting at random? I pick stuff at random and find that quite some time is wasted trying to find something interesting. On the other hand there's nothing regular that I can watch everyday while eating either.

Don't worry man it'll improve. I'm in the frugal stage of life as well but I have (old) furniture since I'm staying with family. Besides the simplicity of minimalism that Plasticine mentioned above, it must be great not having a whole army of inanimate objects to clean. Despairing about cleaning is certainly something I'd like to be rid of.

I like it too but I try to keep the cozy limited to weekends and nights since mixing cozy with work makes it feel less special.

Great chair BTW, your cat (and yourself) have good taste. It gives off a kind off Victorian-era chairs that used to be placed next to fireplaces.

The link doesn't work for me. Hopefully you're talking about the videos and not the food. But I guess watching the same video over a period of a few weeks will be torture enough as well.

Soup is much safer than most stuff when you consider spillage risk. The worst is stuff like potato chips / biscuits / other dry snacks. Fortunately I don't need to worry about them since I don't eat much of them (and when I do, its never near the PC).

All I can say is that you have more patience than I do. Cooking and washing cause enough existential dread that all I feel like doing is running away with my food once its ready.

Most people eat to live; we live to eat, and cook! Our heroine is Lady Julia Child, who published "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" in 1961, after taking 10 years(!) testing and perfecting her recipes. She had a TV show "The French Chef" for ~ 10 years. She ended each show with: "Bon Apetit!" F*ck Yeah!

Either I or the forum software messed up the link. I edited (and re-edited) the post, and finally got it to post the way I intended, so it should work for you now.
@Shadowstalker16; local news, then national nightly news (ABC, NBC, etc). DW news, France24, Euronews, Israel news (all in english) for my news abroad. I try to catch the occasional tennis match if I can find one streaming live. Other times when I'm bored, just look for random stuff, usually game related. I like game "movies". Like someone made a 14 hour Judy romance timeline Cyberpunk gameplay movie. Stuff like that.
At home I either eat at the dining table, which means a little chat now and then with the family if someone is present, or I would eat in front of the PC. Youtube is a staple during eating. Either local news or travel vlogs; or maybe sometimes infotainment videos.
Funny Topic, I nearly didn't bother with.

Anyway, I'm here now, so I might as well contribute. LOL

My eating scenario changes.

What I try to do as often as I can though, is sit at the dining table and eat with my family ... certainly for main meals like Lunch and Dinner.

I do have an erratic sleep pattern though, a leftover from doing 25 years of shift work. I kind of live a 25 to 26 hour day, so my life happens in cycles, and sleeping during the day I sometimes get stuck because I tend to sleep poorly.

So when I can't eat with the family, it is often either standing up in the Kitchen or at the dining table by myself, or even while at the PC. On rarer occasions I might eat while watching TV in the lounge, sitting in a lounge chair.

Breakfast, whenever that is for me, is often eaten while sitting at the PC ... usually just a bowl of serial or porridge, some toast and a cup of tea. plus some juice ... and every now and then some yogurt.

Lunch is often leftovers from the night before, and might be heated up in the microwave and eaten at the PC.

I'm retired so I don't go to work. But we do eat out occasionally, usually with family and or friends.

And I certainly don't use my phone while eating ... though I might chat to someone on it while having a cuppa.

I'm a PC (big screen) kind of person, so I rarely do anything web wise on my phone or tablet. Though when away on holiday that can change a bit.
