rodrolliv: I can't remember which video was it, but when asked about the layout and some not-functioning-features, the bosses recommended to use fanscripts like barefootmonkey's. As much as I love the work he and other members have done, it was quite lazy and unprofessional for them to say 'go use content created by fans'. Same goes for the way we ourselves had to deal with spam attacks at some points. It's a bussiness, they must take responsabilities and fix the problems for their own interest. We are not here to do it for them.
The problem with this as I see it is that for GoG the easier solution is clearly just to scrap the forums. The regular and active users on here can't be more than a small percentage of their customers, and even if we all left (and as much as I like the forums, I can't say I would stop buying here if they were taken away) I doubt it would hurt they're sales much...
With them as understaffed as they are I can't see them devoting much time, money or effort to sorting the forums out when it's not all that relevant to the grand scheme of things...

tinyE: No, you are not!

Anyone can fart "Smoke On the Water"!

I'm cool with that so long as your castle isn't Camelot.

That is a silly place.

micktiegs_8: Your thought process... I must learn it.
The first one is from Howard Stern and the second is Python.

phaolo: Guys.. would it be so bad if Gog completely disabled gifting? O_o

All the scammers\scalpers\leechers would be completely screwed.
It would be a pity for giveaways, but it's frankly better than continue like this..
avatar
apehater: thats just a part of the problem there is and was a lot of abuse, offense, threats on the forum through members, which are not interested in games
avatar
adaliabooks: Honestly, at this point I don't think it would even help. They're clearly not getting any free games at this point (or at least I should hope not) so I think they're just doing it because they're mentally deranged...

Crewdroog: me too and now sachys is away. i am going crazy!

apehater: sachys left too?
no he is out of internet time or something. he has been MIA for a bit now though.

phaolo: Guys.. would it be so bad if Gog completely disabled gifting? O_o
Well... yes. It would mean loosing an important part of GOG functionality, not just the forum but the store, because of scammers that can be easily taken care of with a paywall. Remember, gifting isn't only used for giveaways. There are people who don't even use the forum, and still may want to buy gifts for friends or family.

micktiegs_8: What's a leecher? I've been here for so long and never asked.
For example those that post only in "Open this thread" and "Ninja giveaway" to get free games.

rodrolliv: Ask the people affected by region locks.
Couldn't they just use VPNs for those.. like 5 games?
nvm... arguments/debates are getting old.

It wouldn't really stop trading and gifting (which consist mostly of Steam keys anyway) and it would hurt actual Gog customers.

That said, the idea that Gog should be willing to lose money just to stop some insignificant forum bickering is quite amusing.

I didn't mean it like a realistic idea.
It was more a "what if?" :P

I would suggest to change the repping system to what Obsidian forum uses

In Obsidian forum, you can only like a post, you cannot derep a post. It would help in mitigating some hostility.
And you can see who like your post, generating positive feelings to the people who like you.

I think it will improve the forum to a certain extend.

But it is Obsidian, are we sure it works? :P

Bump? Why? GOG won't do shit anyway... I sent in a support ticket two and a half weeks ago, with a list of "nice quotes" (= a bunch of insults found on GOG's forums), telling GOG that their website doesn't look like a nice place with so much harassment around. I suggested that Ciris could become a real community manager and not just a Twitch and Facebook-something. GOG's answer? This...

They don't care. You got a problem with nes? Tell him that you're going to rape his mother, burn his house, cut off his balls and feed them to his fuckbuddy Wankalot (or whatever he's called). Will it solve the problem? No, but it's fun sometimes. And you don't have to fear any consequences. Obviously, GOG doesn't see this as anything bad.

On a more serious note: You should stop pointing out nes-alts. Sounds weird but... The only way to get a reaction out of GOG is to allow nes to scam the shit out of people. Why should GOG do anything against this prick when he doesn't really harm anyone? All he currently does is to annoy a handful of forum regulars. Stop doing GOG's work. When they get swamped with "Some scammer stole a game from me" tickets, they'll have to react.
