If you can get by some of the difficulty issues the game is totally rewarding and amazingly fun. I'd read the manual but it's certainly worth your time.

People might notice a trend - I'm going to be a total unabashed fanboy for this one. It's a game I stumbled on "by accident" having never heard of it, when I returned to PC gaming. Obviously, I fell in love and will try my best to share this for what I think is really a hidden gem of a game.

I wish there were more like it, and I'm glad that recent (mostly turnbased) games have incorporated some of the stuff I really loved abut this one.

WBGhiro: oh hell yeah!

EDIT: oh I thought at that price it would include the second game too, still nice to see it in the catalogue even if the pricing's a bit off imho.

JudasIscariot: It includes the original game, the smaller DLC expansions, and the stand-alone expansion Fallen Champions :)
What version of King Arthur - The Role-playing Wargame is this? Back in the day Neocore dropped support from DRM-free version and patches beyond 1.06 version were made only available on Steam.

Hi

Due to a number of technical issues (some of you have experienced them first hand), we have decided that moving forward, King Arthur will only be patched via Steam. I realize this might not be ideal for many of you but we are hoping that by offering all existing customers their own copy of King Arthur on Steam, we will lessen the inconvenience somewhat. Any DLCs you own will of course also be made available to you in the same manner.

We will keep you posted on the progress and when the portals have made the switch to the Steam version.

/M
They provided Steam keys for GamersGate owners (took them over half a year to do so) but, afaik, other users of other platforms didn't even get that (they had not at least year later anyway).

So what kind of technical difficulties did GOG techies have releasing this that were enough to prevent developer with full access to source code back in the day from doing the same?

I have no idea, I didn't ask :)
Now that's a really great release. Fantastic game, the mix of turn based strategy, RTS, RPG and choose your own adventure creates a truly unique game, and it's so much fun. Especially if you like Arthurian myths, and I love them.
