hcollett: hi guys I only found out about this site today so i'm not sure if this is a good place to ask but I'm wanting to play star wars kotor, I have an old disk but couldn't get that to work on a windows 8 machine cos I'm not great with computers. I thought about getting it from steam but assumed I'd have the same problems, does anyone know if I buy it from gog will I still need to mess about with patches and all that or will it just install ready to play on windows 8.1? cheers
Hi hcollett, welcome to the forums. The correct place to find the information on the game's compatibility would be in the the game specific forum here.

As for the answer to your question whether the game will work on Windows 8 without any tweaking, this is the confirmation I found on the same forum section so I hope it helps. :)

Yay. That was... um... underwhelming. Then again pretty much all teasers are. Still, I'm kind of excited to see the return of old-type tech, and not the ridiculous glitz stuff that was ever-present in the prequels.

I'll certainly watch the the movie come next December, simply because out of dumb curiosity. Can't be any worse than the last few efforts. ;)

real.geizterfahr: The blade of the lightsaber looked like it was built by a n00b though. I've never seen a laser twitching around on its edges :/
Indeed. What does a lightsaber need a crossguard for? I'd imagine a person would be more likely to injure him/herself on said thing than to protect one's hands.

Elmofongo: HAH even then that lightsaber in the trailer is nothing compared to this:

Yeah, now we're talking! Try to master this, you pathetic Jedi, that's something they don't teach you at your academy! Even activating it without committing seppuku is art, let alone wielding it in actual combat.
Who's the swordmaster now, huh? HUH?!!

Well he could lock the others blade or punch attack. Both techniques exist I believe and I'd be very happy if they went down the road of using actual sword fighting techniques.

There is only one man who is worthy enough to wield it:

Scratch that make that two men:

So that's what happened to all the black people in Star Wars: they were all Stormtroopers!

That thought kind of struck me as well. Hey, but at least they may not remain faceless anymore (or stupid clones).

Itto Ogami!

Lone Wolf and Cub is easily the best graphic novel series I have read.

Not the best place to ask, but the answer to your question is: yes. Kotor will just install and is ready to play on Windows 8.1 if you buy it here. Have fun!

On topic:

Looks like a fan made teaser, was not impressed, CG Millennium Falcon does nothing for me, the hilts were just stupid.

Other than that, it was bland. And did not excite.

That being said, when I saw the teaser for Episode I it looked really good and I was so excited to see the movie. So. Lesson learned.

(also did not like the black guy in the stormtrooper costume looking surprised, too "epic movie" feel for me)

Episode VII of Star Wars or Epic Movie 2? You be the judge!

xxxIndyxxx: wow people do like to hate on star wars for no reason. It looked good. The lightsaber is canon and yes it looks like it was made by a noob but that's probably intentional since there aren't really jedi or sith left to teach him or her...
I just don't get why do we have to get more and more "creative" (ridicilous rather) with the lightsabers. First Darth Mauls saber staff, then the insane rotating variation of it in Rebels and now this silly lokking thing, the spanish inquisition lightsaber, as my friend called it. Just have a lighsaber. It's cool enough as is. If you really have to do something with it have the hilt engraved with something cool looking. The more they try to make it more awesome, the goofier they get.

I would think a cross guard is the least ridiculous of all the examples given. Infact its a huge back shift and has some sense of practicality to it.
