After today's games, no South American team left in the competition. That means this year's World Cup goes to an European team. My prediction for the final: France vs Croatia. Belgium vs England would look good too!
Lucky for France that lucky Belgium won. France is already in the final.

Wow, you might be a little hasty on that one. I'm French and I'm the first to acknowledge that Belgium has an excellent team. Plus they are our neighbors and can understand French, while we can't understand Flemish ^_^

So, no, I'm not overly confident on that one.

My prediction - Belgium vs Croatia, with most prolly Belgium as the winner.
Well, after a nightmare train journey which should have meant I watched the game in a pub, I only caught the second half. Missed both goals, but great to see Belgium get through, the missus is Belgian (Flemish speaking part!). Was an ok game from what I saw. The French killed off the earlier game with the goal, Uruguay were ok for the first 15mins, but the goal killed it. I think the France v Belgium game will be close, they both have names, and different styles.
Rock on the game tomorrow though, really looking forward to another nail biting 75minutes of hanging onto 1-0!

Either way, we'll see a first-time champion, which is a good thing for the sports. I definitely don't want to see a France vs England final. Belgium yes, Croatia yes, Sweden yes, previous winners no!

Nobody is lucky at this stage of the competition. But I hope you are right!

Just look at the match statistics. Belgium only had 3 shots on target and 40% ball possession and scored 2 goals with one being a Brazilian own goal. Brazil was dominant in all the numbers, except the final score. France had similar luck, they only had two shots on target against Uruguay and scored both of them, but they did have a much higher ball possession. France has a much better chance against Belgium than it would have had against Brasil.

Russia no. They've been champions many times before. By "they" I mean hosts.

antrad88: Just look at the match statistics.
Statistics don't say everything. Belgium kept good control of the ball, stopped quite a few goal attempts. It's normal for a team that is two goals behind to push and try hard. Belgium's main goal was to keep them at bay, don't try anything reckless and they did that just fine. To push instead of just using counters would have been a dumb move. This results in exactly the statistics you see.
Brazil didn't played a single game as a team, everything around them involved individual skills and play. Belgium had a mix of both from the start of the tournament and that's one of the reasons they're so good. Curtois was excellent tonight but also Brazil players helped him a lot by missing so many good opportunities.

Looking forward to tomorrows matches, can't wait to see which 2 teams will reach other side of semi-final.
Belgium is the greatest surprise so far. Well, at least that makes a Spaniard in the semifinals.
The second one today should be more interesting since I'm not a huge fan of either Sweden or England anyway. Would love to see a Croatia-Belgium final with Croatia winning the cup. If Russia weren't the hosts I'd have liked to see them advance too.
I'm pleased with how things are going in this World Cup and looking forward to today's matches.
If France and England end up playing the finals it would be the duel of two youngest squads in the tournaments (if we don't count Nigeria) and that would give everybody else a thing to think about for the next World Cup. ;)
Personally, I would like to see Belgium win the tournament, as this really is their golden generation and those great players really deserve to lift up the Goddess of Football.
I was really expecting more of Sweden, great win for us of course.
