75% off Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, Startopia, Thief, Hitman, Omikron and more…

Like a phoenix rising from its ashes, better and more beautiful than ever before, this weekend our Square Enix catalog is discounted more than ever before. It's 25+ titles at an all-time GOG.com high 75% discount - the Square (pho)Enix

Omikron: The Nomad Soul is usually $9.99 on GOG.com - but now it's way less than that. That's great, because Omikron is one of the biggest, strangest, most interesting classics out there. Omikron is probably the first all-in-one game out there, a curious mix of adventure game, shooter, and surprisingly competent fighter. It's not the perfect game, few are, but there is something about the world and ambience that makes it one of the most immersive and legendary titles. It's also got a cameo and exclusive track by David Bowie, now that's cool.

Every time you mention Deus Ex someone reinstalls it. This legendary title needs no introduction, but perhaps this time it's going to be you? The Thief series is a steal at 75% off, and the light-and-sound based stealth mechanics still hold up to this day, better than many of its contemporaries for that matter. Then, there is Hitman - a completely different take on stealth, but one that's equally captivating. Few games have hit as many of the right notes as Hitman 3: Contracts - and you'll become the ultimate predator in no time.

The Square (pho)Enix rises from the ashes this weekend, with 75% off - the highest GOG.com discount on the catalog so far! The promo will last until Tuesday, October 13, 3:59 AM GMT.

ZaineH: I'm still trying to fight the desire to get and play Invisible War. :)
It's not terrible. I enjoyed it. I laughed out loud the first time I got to the resolution of the coffee shop questline. There is some shiny in the murk.

If only we had more Sqeenix releases.
Buy Anachronox!

Niggles: Buy Daikatana everyone ;)
Yep! If they see masses of GOG users have bought Daikata, who knows, maybe they'll release "Daikatana 2: The Bitch Is Back!"

IronArcturus: How is the gameplay with Omikron? Is it an adventure game? Does it run in a window?
From what I've seen it's a weird mixture of 3D adventure, FPS and Beat-Em-Up fights. The adventure part is okay, although dialogue isn't always consistent regarding your previous choices, the Beat-Em-Up part needs some accustomizing, the FPS parts are bad and terribly clunky, even after reconfiguring the controls. Mind you, I'm biased, as I gave up on the game after the first hour ot two, judging that the best thing about it was the setting and the soundtrack, the gameplay was more frustrating than fun (especially in combination with the awkward savegame system; I believe you could only save in specific locations and only a limited number of times, but I might be mistaken).

Is Total Overdose worth a look? If so, why?

guppy44: You've piqued my curiosity. Which one is that?

I already own everything in this promo. I'd love some new releases from Square. :)
The only one I don't have at the moment is Conflict: Desert Storm. The combination of the price being so low, along with it being the one game looking at me when I click the promo page, is compelling me to finish the set.

Leroux: Is Total Overdose worth a look? If so, why?
Yes.
It's a very entertaining third-person shooter in the vein of Max Payne, utilizing a somewhat rudimentary GTA-style open world to serve as a hub for the various levels.
While there is some driving of various vehicles involved, it's mostly about the combat, which features lots of acrobatics (you can do somersaults off walls and kil multiple enemies via headshots while you're still in the air) and humour, elements that are clearly inspired by movies such as Desperado. There are even direct references to that film, like a special move named "El Mariachi" that allows you to use machine guns disguised as guitar cases.

Overall, it's a cartoonish and fun little game, but it's not exactly perfect or revolutionary, with some wonky mechanics, a comparatively short length ( for the main storyline, at least) and a bit unsatisfactory ending. I'd say at this price it's definitely worth checking out.

Senteria: Hurray for Eidos promo
Exactly. No idea why they're calling it a SquareEnix promo. :)

Well, maybe if we got Life is Strange or maybe even Final Fantasy V at a discount...
Sure would be nice to have some actual new Squeenix games around here.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution: DC and Tomb Raider: Anniversary too much to ask for?

Those along with Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII. Fighting Force, Blood Omen: The Legacy of Kain (Yes, I know about this game being in rights hell) and others would be nice too.

mobutu: Is the TombRaider AngelOfDarkness really that bad?
btw, thanks for the promo
I got it free with a video card and still felt ripped off.

Yeah there are plenty of good Squeenix games that should be here.

innerring: Like in the previous weekend promo, I''m sure the games on sale have been even cheaper in the past.
Sure but at such a deep discount there's no reason to be unsatisfied with this weekend promo.

ZaineH: I'm still trying to fight the desire to get and play Invisible War. :)
It's actually not a bad game.

InfraSuperman: Buy Anachronox!
Indeed - and Startopia! Both are brilliantly quirky and unique games. :)

This is a wild guess, and I'm probably wrong, but since it has been a while since we got a Square Enix title, and there are some FInal Fantasy titles on PC, the title of this thread, Square (pho)Enix, to me, spells out phoenix. Anyone who's played Final Fantasy would recognize the meaning of that, and I don't personally recollect how many instances and/or references to a phoenix exist in the games in this sale and by Square Enix that's on GOG. Maybe a very indirect hint, and it may mean nothing, but just thought I'd mention it. Maybe it's just paying homage to games beloved by Square fans.

Crossing my fingers that some day we can get Final Fantasy. My guess is 7 or 8 would come first. Wishful thinking, as always ;)
